Defying Gravity
I just got home a little while ago from one of the craziest days I have experienced in a long time.
I took a basic defensive handgun class offered by High Point Personal Security Training.
It was an 8 hour class that covered everything from drawstroke to post-incident scenario management.
Its actually easier to cut and paste a paragraph from their website:
Communication, movement, threat recognition and reliable solutions to various realty-based problems are integrated
throughout this daylong course. Practical and legal aspects of pre- and post-confrontation management are covered in detail.
Students test their mindset and ability using concepts and skills they’ve developed throughout the day.
Reality is stressed at all times.
It was an absolutely positive experience, but I am also totally exhausted, both physically and mentally.
There was so much information to cover. As the trainer pointed out to me at one point, "It's like drinking water from a fire-hose!"
The great part was that there were 2 instructors and only 2 students including myself. It couldn't have worked out better for me.
I am told that there classes usually have 6 - 12 students but this time around there were only 2 of us signed up.
There was a lot of 1-on-1 personal attention and "good enough" was NEVER taken for granted. We went over things multiple times until we got it right.
I am looking forward to taking their advanced class later this year, but right now I have a lot to practice.
If you have never taken a class such as this one I highly recommend it, in fact I urge you to do it. You will not regret it.
You don't know what you don't know.
