A friend of mine that is an ex government employee got me started shooting Sigs about 5 years ago and they really seem to work for me. They tick the accuracy and dependability boxes. I prefer mostly metal firearms, and I really appreciate the DA/SA operation with the simple "no safety" decocking lever and first round DA trigger pull being rather robust and providing safety while maintaining readiness.
I started with a P226 SCT, but that was stolen when my rural home was broken into. Living in the country is not what it used to be.
I replaced the 226 SCT with 2 consecutive serial number P226 MK25s in 9mm
I unexpectedly found 2 consecutive serial number M11-A1s in 9mm (P228) and added them. I like their smaller than 226 size. ( I have still never shot either of them, just can's find the time)
I got my CCW earlier this year and decided to add the new small P224 in 9MM. It is an "Extreme" with the short reset trigger and Houge grips. I love the size, even though it is rather small for my hands.
Yesterday I found a P227 45 in NIB stock and on sale. There is a rebate of a pistol bag and two extra mags from Sig going on right now so the time was right to add a 45. I had decided that I would concentrate all of my semi auto handguns in 9mm so I could just concentrate on having one ammo on hand in "quantity", but the allure of the 45 got me. I also really appreciate that the function of all of my Sigs are the same. While the ergonomics are slightly different between the models, the controls are exactly the same and I am able to rely on muscle memory in operation rather than thinking about what I am firing and adjusting depending on the weapon. "In hand" the P227 45 feels exactly the same as the MK25s. The spec sheet says the grip is a little larger, but it is not noticeable at all. The 227 came with two mags + I will get two free. all of them are 10 round. There is a 14 round in the works from Sig, I plan to get a couple of those as well.
Hopefully I am done for a while, this fairly new pistol habit is cutting into my motorcycle budget.
