Multiple permits?

I keep seeing posts where people are talking about getting non-resident carry permits from states in addition to their own state's permit. Utah and Florida seem to be popular non-resident permit states.

What's the reason, or what advantadge is there to having multiple non-resident permits?

The benefit is if your state doesn't have reciprocity in other states you can get a non-resident permit from a state that does so you can carry in more states.

I should add, living in Nc, if you have your nc cch permit, you don't need to get another one from another state, your permit is accepted in every state a permit from Florida is, plus a few more.

Guess that's why I really hadn't heard of it locally, as my NC CHP seems to be accepted in most states, save for the anti-gun states.

Like influencer said, I just gives you more freedom of travel while carrying. I live in WA about 5 minutes from the OR border. Since OR doesn't have reciprocity with anyone I had to get an OR permit to carry there. I also have AZ because my in-laws make frequent trips to Vegas (sometimes we go with) and WA doesn't cover NV. Since NV scrapped their reciprocity though, I won't be renewing.

UT and FL are accepted by many states. This is the reason why people pick them up as a second state. For example, I live in PA and have a license to carry firearms from here, but I also have a UT permit. Last I checked (the last couple of months some things have changed) I had 39 states of reciprocity. This means I can carry in 39 states according to the laws of those states. There are some states you will never get or will be so hard to that it's not worth it.... NY, CA, HI, MD, NJ come to mind immediately.

I just checked your map... you only have 12 states that don't honor your NC CHP. That's about as decent as you're going to get.

Live in western Wisconsin and travel into Minnesota often (no reciprocity). Attained Utah permit for that reason.
