Moving to Tennessee

I live in Florida and will have my CCW soon. I am going to move to TN over the summer. Is my FL CCW valid in Tennessee for any length of time once I move while I process for a new CCW from TN?

Last I read you have 6 mos to get you TN permit. Most classes are from 75-110 and the state will want 115 for processing. What city if you don't mind me asking?

I'm not sure yet, but I know it will be eastern TN near (but not in) Knoxville. Thanks for the reply. Do you know where I can find out for sure? I wouldn't want to break the law.

Recognition of Out-of-State Handgun Carry Permits

Tennessee now recognizes a facially valid handgun permit, firearms permit, weapons permit, or a license issued by another state according to its terms, and will, therefore, authorize the holder of such out-of-state permit or license to carry a handgun only in the state of Tennessee.
The person must be in possession of the permit or license at all times such person carries a handgun in Tennessee.
Tennessee will enter into written reciprocity agreements with other states that require the execution of such agreements.
If a person with a handgun permit from another state decides to become a resident of Tennessee, such person must obtain a Tennessee handgun permit within six (6) months of establishing residency in Tennessee. Such person will be processed as a renewal applicant if the eligibility requirements of the other state are substantially similar to the eligibility requirements of Tennessee

Radio you really need to check out the Concealed Carry Map and Permits link at the top of the page. Most of the people on here are spot on with their answers but do you really want to rely on someone you don't know to answer a question that has the possibility of getting you into criminal court? Just my opinion

That's my neck of the woods. Welcome to the neighborhood with plenty of fun things to do around here.

All permits are valid in TN. After 6 mos. you may apply for a TN permit which allows concealed OR open carry. Enjoy!

Take note of what rich45 has to say. If you're establishing residency, you're supposed to apply within 6 months of doing so. Drivers license change-over has something similar...

It also looks like it would be processed as a renewal rather than a totally new permit so long as the other state's requirements for permit were similar. You might be able to get through this quicker than someone with no permit at all... Might being the operative word. You'll have to talk to them and ask to find out for certain.
