Moving out of state during ccw application process

Hi all,
I recently submitted my application for my Kansas ccw permit. The 90 day process would be up around mid February. I just found out my wife is being transferred to Arkansas the first week of January. I will most likely stay for a week or two to finish up packing and work. Is the Kansas license dead for me? I realize all fees are not refundable. Do I just hope that my class covers Arkansas' requirements and submitt when I'm moved in? We may actually move back within a year or two also.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Well...this is Kansas law:

75-7c04
Chapter 75.--STATE DEPARTMENTS; PUBLIC OFFICERS AND EMPLOYEES
Article 7c.—FIREARMS
75-7c04. License to carry a concealed firearm; qualifications; weapons safety and training course.
(a) The attorney general shall not issue a license pursuant to this act if the applicant:
(1) Is not a resident of the county where application for licensure is made or is not a resident of the state;

And here is Arkansas law:

§5-73-309. License — Requirements.
The Director of the Department of Arkansas State Police shall issue a license to carry a concealed handgun if the applicant:
(1) Is a citizen of the United States;
(2) (A) Is a resident of the state and has been a resident continuously for ninety (90) days or longer immediately preceding the filing of the application.
(b) (1) The attorney general shall adopt rules and regulations establishing procedures and standards as authorized by this act
for an eight-hour handgun safety and training course required by this section. Such standards shall include:
(A) A requirement that trainees receive training in the safe storage of handguns, actual firing of weapons and instruction in
the laws of this state governing the carrying of concealed handguns and the use of deadly force;

There is an exception in Arkansas law for training for those that possess licenses from other states that Arkansas recognizes, but you won't have a valid Kansas license without being a Kansas resident, so I think you are stuck, legally, taking an Arkansas class.

Thanks for the info, I would think that Kansas' 8 hour class would qualify for their requirements. I guess I'll email their AG. I know Missouri's AG said the class should transfer over for theirs.

Check out this site: Link Removed. You might fine some additional info there, but you might have to obtain a CCW permit in each state as a resident, as long as you fill the citizenship requirement of that state.

First read the law in both States. The laws that apply to me state that I must be a resident to apply for or renew a CC permit but that it is still valid, until expiration, should I move. If what I understand is correct your State has 90 days to issue your permit and you're planning to leave about two weeks before that period ends. Your permit may well be issued before you leave. Staying an extra week or two may also be a viable option. If you are a legal resident at the time of application you have not committed a fraud. If you are still a resident when the permit is issued it is perfectly valid. How long your permit remains valid after you change residence is a totally different issue and will vary from one State to another. As long as you maintain a residence in your current State I can see no reason you can't take a car load of stuff down to your wife on the weekend, or any other time, and still maintain your residency.

Here a ninety day residency is also required. A class is good for one year, so in theory you could take our class almost nine months before moving here. My point is that you could have everything ready and apply on day ninety-one.

Here our instructor is required to give us a copy of the applicable laws. If you do not already have your laws then you can find them online. At the top of this page you can find a link to your laws.

I was considering keeping my residence and continuing my work here until after then. Might be the best plan.
