Mother shoots one of three home intruders, other two take her gun

The headline for the story sounds great - another law abiding citizen uses a weapon to protect herself and her children from scum breaking into her home.

But the rest of the story ain't so great, except for the fact that they left without harming her and her children:

The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office said the 33-year-old mother and her 6-year-old son were home alone at 9:30 p.m. when she heard someone breaking in through the window — turns out three bad guys with masks on were making their way in.
That is when the woman grabbed her gun. Investigators said she pulled the trigger hitting one suspect in the stomach.
After that deputies said there was a scuffle between mother and one of the other suspects. They stole her gun and took off.

Pity no-one in the news media know what questions to ask. We are all hanging out wondering whether she just had a single shot rifle and then couldn't reload in time. Whether she had a semi-auto pistol but had a misfeed and couldn't clear it in time. Whether the intruders were very quick and not at all scared of a woman wielding a gun. Maybe this should be an example of someone who needed the firepower of an AR15 with a 30 round mag.

Need more info - a strange outcome for a violent altercation. I could speculate all day, but clear information would sure help. There may well be some important lessons to be learned here.

I agree - it seems odd that nothing was reported about what happened after she shot the first intruder. Hopefully more will come out soon.

Or they knew exactly what to ask and chose to leave that out of their story in order to further their agenda.
