Mother 'allegedly' sexually assaulted by U.S. Forest Service Officer!? WTF??

~SMH~
A 'very' disturbing story to say the least.
I don't know much about this website 'Republic Magazine', I just happened to find it while surfing the web.
However,'If' what this couple is claiming is true, as a husband and a father, I would have been very hard pressed to not hold this man at gunpoint or maybe even shoot the dude if it was my wife and kids he was messing with.
However, if the husband & wife are both lying about this incident to frame an Officer, then the Judge should throw the book at them both!
It will be very interesting to hopefully find out the truth in this case.

Tammie McCutcheon said Tripp was wearing a heavy jacket with nothing to indicate he was an officer. Her first thought was that the man approaching the truck was another hunter stopping to chat, she said.
Tripp states he was wearing a duty jacket with patches identifying him as an officer
.
Seems like there are 4 witnesses who could clear up that factual dispute:

Wheatland County Sheriff Jim Rosenberg happened to be in the area hunting with three other men, and the group responded to Tripp's radio call for help.
After Rosenberg and the others arrived

But no mention of it in reference to the statement a witness gave the couple's investigator:

Rosenberg later gave a statement to an investigator working for a Billings attorney hired by the McCutcheons. According to a transcript of the statement, Tripp told Rosenberg that McCutcheon did not point the rifle at him.

Just looking at a picture of the woman, I dont know why anyone would want to sexually assault her. Especially knowing that their job is at risk as well as the common sense that maybe there are armed hunters around who will see. But who knows, maybe the guy is just an idiot. Guess we'll find out once there is a trial.

Funny how the article speaks with such certainties when the trial has not taken place. Obvious bias from the link provided. Regardless, if the forest service ranger did that, he is a sicko and very desperate. If he didn't, then who knows what provoked this.

WOW... check out the other articles on that site..... I'm pretty sure im on some sort of watch list just for browsing.

One person's "frisking" is another person's "sexual assault".

I believe if the officer's intention was to assault her, he would have been the one to initiate the contact and not her. Thats isn't to say he wasn't in the wrong in some other way.

Sounds like a whole lot of overreaction by both parties in this case. I don't doubt that they were both on the jittery side - she a woman "alone in the wilderness" so-to-speak being confronted by an unknown man, at least in her mind....he having one of the more dangerous jobs in the country (Fish & Game/Wildlife/Forest ranger) while in a confrontation with somebody who probably had access to a firearm. Of course this whole thing could have been avoided if the ranger had simply pulled out his badge when she asked him to identify himself (assuming that part of her story is accurate).

When dealing with women who're alone (I'm not counting the little kids who were with her), LEO's should be a little more patient and understanding when they're asked for more ID than just an official-looking jacket. Obviously if the cop steps out of a cruiser in full uniform, that's one thing......but coming up on someone on an ATV and barking orders.....that's another thing entirely.

Of course if she was really that worried she should have never gotten out of the vehicle. Makes me wonder......

How about LEO's should follow the law and produce the identification that is required by law for them to produce when dealing with anybody?

The line inbetween truth and fiction will only become more blurred as anti-establishment sentiment grows and the establishment starts getting desperate to maintain control. These stories are going to start to surface more and more... Real change coming and the early signs are already blowing on the winds.
