Wanting to get my concealed carry license, which state offers the best license with the most reciprocal recognition?

Thanks!

Depends on where you are and where you expect to go.

Handgunlaw.us has a make a map feature - select the permits you have/want to see how much coverage you get.

Generally, when folks go looking for non-resident permits, Utah, Florida and Arizona seem to top the lists.

Keep in mind that some states allow their residents to carry in the state only with the local state's permit, regardless of how many other states they recognize.

It somewhat depends on your home state and where it's valid. I'm in NYS which won't recip with anyone. Fl gives a lot of states and works in FL if your home state doesn't. AZ is the only available nonres that works in NV, if needed. UT works in a lot of states incl. MN. Use the maps on USACarry to see what works. What is your home state ?

welcome to the forum rossb! i'm in florida and this state seems to have the most reciprocating states
check out 'concealed carry maps' at the top of this forum page it will give you all the states and who reciprocates with whom statewise
best wishes

I'm in SC and have NH. I would have gotten Utah but Utah requires a course by a Utah-approved instructor and I don't know of any close to me. SC and NH cover me pretty much anywhere I want to go.

There used to be a list of Utah-approved instructors by state on their website. I expect it's still there. Arizona is a great license to get and have, you just need proof of training and a DD214 is acceptable. Arizona gets you Nevada.

Start with your home state. Check the "Oregon" section of this site for more details. Depending on the training requirements for Oregon, you may also meet the requirements for other carry permits such as Arizona and Virginia. It looks like a Utah permit would get you reciprocity in Washington and an Arizona permit would get you reciprocity in Nevada.

I'm checking this out, too, and I'm also in Oregon. At this point I'm thinking Florida, which gives me pretty much everything I want. It looks like Florida will accept my DD-214 for training, if I can find it, and will accept a hunters' safety course from an NRA certified instructor if I can't. (Maybe someone from Florida can confirm that.). If I understand correctly, Nevada will issue an Orgonian a permit because it's a border state. That only leaves California and Colorado, which are pretty much no deal, no way.

I'm open to suggestions....

Yes, I'm in Oregon so I'll need Oregon to carry here no matter what. I'd heard that Utah was reciprocated by quite a few states & considering its proximity should be reasonably easy to find an instructor. Thanks for everyone's input & please tell more if you've got more to tell!!!
