Ok soo here is the link Majority of Americans Would Ban 3D-Printing Guns at Home (Fat Chance!) - Hit & Run : Reason.com

here is a link with comments from /. Of 1000 Americans Polled, Most Would Ban Home Printing of Guns - Slashdot

Now.. In what world are these news agency's living in? did any of them take a statistics course? in what universe does 1000 people make up enough of a pool to generate a statistical average for the 300+ million Americans? did they get the background of everyone? did they ask the person if they owned firearms - did they get the persons stance on 2A issues? how was the data collected? how was the questions worded? seriously.. 80% of these statistics is made up bull dooky that just pisses off people who do real statistical analysis. (not me but ive heard from one who does) lol

I vote more people should be able to do this..
If the money wasnt an issue, id have my own CNC lathe and bunch of other cool stuff, crank out all kinds of stuff that I dream up.. (not just firearms or parts of firearms)

but when I see these reports spout various statistics, I know its all bull dooky - I wasn't asked.. in fact I doubt anyone I know, or have ever met has been asked these questions.. Go so far as to say noone on here was asked their views I bet..

-edit-
I will go even further to say, You cannot unprogram / delete / remove / stop someone from doing something they set their mind to do.. If someone wants to print a 3D printer gun, they will - Once it exists, once the possibility exists.. It will be true - No pushing the genie back in the bottle.. no closing the box - its out and its real.. learn to accept it or end up making many people end up hating you!

Just a bit more of thought on the poll results. I have not seen the poll questions, but I bet they were without rational information on the question asked. And they were leading questions. I understand the poll.

How many people in the US population actually understand what a 3D printer is. What equipment and materials are available for the cost of under a few thousand dollars. What the actual capabilities of a "printed" weapon actually are (like maybe 1 or two shots).

Information simply can not be suppressed. It could not be done in the dark ages (see references to monks etc.); how do we figure it will work in the Internet info-age. Get real. Regulate pressure cookers. Which can also be printed, but not work so good.

So you are concerned that someone may spend a few thousand dollars to build a gun good for 1 to a few more shots before self destructing, rather than just going on the street and buying an illegal/stolen gun for <$500. OK. You must be a government cost analyst.

And this same group has no rational thoughts about firearms in the first place. Get ********** real.

How in the Hell are we expected to run a functional country when knee jerk is the only driver of national laws. Crisis = law. And particularly effective if you name it for a victim and use a lot of pens to sign it. Actually not the only driver; there is of course big business/labor and the crazy people with a serious excesses of money, who believe that (insert deity of choice) has made it clear to them (and selected expert movie stars or musical performers [certainly they, with their deep background understanding and expertise and tixx, would know] that they should take away everyone's guns and large soft drinks.

I just get so sick of it. There are multiple realities in the country. The public officials world (public part only), upstanding population reality (public only), the government world (public only), worlds of the subsets of the population, all the non-public versions of the worlds previously mentioned, and the one involving irrational and unjustifiable killing of thousands of innocent men women and children and destroying the infrastructure of sovereign nations without a problem and raising the indignation of the county to deny the rights of our citizens under the Constitution of the United States of America because of a school shooting with relatively minimal casualties, and then the one no one wants to recognize - reality.

The reason this is not a good comparison is with a decent 3d printed you fill the tank and download a program and run it. For a CNC machine you need tooling and the user has to set it up this is what takes the majority of machining time. For example I can thread a barrel in under 10 min easy. However it can take two to three times that amount if time to get the barrel set up in the lathe and running true. You can buy a printer that will make a very usable ( for far more then 1 or 2 shots ) ar15 lower quite easy that anyone who can read fill the tank and dl the program can do super easy.

That all said I agree the poll is BS but what new poll is not??

Especially when the poll participants are low information individuals that have no clue about firearms, manufacturing, or systems used to do 3D printing. They are already programmed by indoctrination centers (public education) and propaganda outlets that if it makes a gun, it's bad, because guns are bad.

Now a 3-D printed gun is one gun I would like banned... along with the .25 acp.

A 3-D printed gun is only good for 1 shot then it is useless... what fools would bother with it?

I want a real gun not a piece of plastic good for 1 shot.

And I don't care if they eventually make 3-D guns that can shoot 6 shoots and reload.... THEY ARE JUNK

How can you compare a 3-D gun with a well made 1911 or a S&W or a Ruger, or a Bersa?

Get serious and ditch all plans on 3-D guns. :big_boss:

Banning or not banning is irrelevant except that every new restriction on our rights is a travesty. Bank robbery is banned too but it still continues. Passing new restrictions is only for the retarded and serves no purpose except to chip away at our constitutional rights and freedoms.
