Mossberg 500 v 590

I am considering a 12 gauge shotgun. What benefits does the Mossberg 500 have versus the 590 model?

You can get different length barrels for the 500.
My 590 has a 20" barrel, holds 8+1, and has a bayonet lug. The 590 has fewer plastic parts.
