MARBLETOWN — A woman who works as a police officer outside of Ulster County has been charged after allegedly brandishing a handgun during a domestic dispute at her home in Marbletown, authorities said on Tuesday.

Jessie M. Cramer, 23, of 117 Mohonk Road, Marbletown, was arrested at 6 p.m. Monday and charged with misdemeanor menacing, according to state police.

State police at the town of Ulster barracks said troopers and Ulster County sheriff’s deputies were called to a domestic dispute at Cramer’s home at 2:51 p.m. Monday and were told that, during the dispute, which was between the male and female occupants of the home, the woman displayed a firearm.

A state police press release about Cramer’s arrest was just four sentences long and made no mention of her occupation. Ulster County District Attorney Holley Carnright, however, said he was told Cramer was an out-of-county police officer and that her supervisors has been notified about her arrest. Carnright said he did not know which police department or departments employed Cramer.

There was no indication of whether the gun allegedly displayed by Cramer was a police-issued weapon.

Carnright said he was told no one was injured during the dispute. He also said his office would ask that an order of protection be issued to the victim. Carnright said the request will be made when Cramer is arraigned.

Authorities did not identify the victim or describe the relationship between him and Cramer.

Cramer was released from custody with a ticket and is due to appear in Marbletown Town Court on Sept. 28, state police said.

Sure it's bad any time an off duty cop is involved in a domestic. If her gun was found unsecured like not in the safe when the police arrived she has a problem.Always keep a safe to store your weapon. At least when the cops come your defense was that my gun was locked in the safe.
