More than a Vacation a Month for Obamas in 2013
By DANIEL HALPER
In the first three months of the year, members of the first family have been on three vacations, averaging a vacation a month. And now it's being reported that the first daughters are on a spring break vacation in the Bahamas.
The Obamas began the new year in Hawaii. "President Obama departed Hawaii this morning for Washington, after spending NINE days vacationing with family and friends in his native state. Here’s a quick look at how he spent his vacation," ABC reported on January 6, 2013.
"Obama played FIVE rounds of golf with SEVEN different partners, spending roughly THIRTY hours on TWO different courses on Oahu. The president made FIVE early morning trips to the gym at the nearby Marine Base at Kaneohe Bay. The First Family spent TWO afternoons enjoying the beach on the base and went for ONE hike to a local waterfall. The president spent ONE father-daughter afternoon with Malia and Sasha, bowling and going out for shave ice, an annual tradition."
Then the first lady and their daughters vacationed in Aspen over President's Day weekend. "First Lady Michelle Obama arrived in Aspen on Friday afternoon and is here with her daughters for a ski vacation," Aspendailynews.com reported in February. "Few details about her trip were available. Sources said she is staying at the home of Jim and Paula Crown, owners of the Aspen Skiing Co. She is reportedly skiing at Buttermilk today, where the Crowns, of Chicago, own a home on the Tiehack side."
While the rest of the family was in Colorado, Obama went to Florida for a golf weekend. "It was not his motivation, certainly, but President Obama is honoring his modern predecessors on this Presidents’ Day weekend by doing what many of them liked to do on breaks: chill out in Florida with the guys — including, in his case, one of golf’s most famous guys, Tiger Woods," the New York Times reported in February.
And now it's being reported that the first daughters are on Spring Break in the Bahamas. "Sasha and Malia Obama are quietly vacationing at the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, Breitbart News has learned," a report reads.
Of course, there's no reason to begrudge the first family for enjoying a good vacation. But at a time when the White House is closed to the public, it all might seem a little odd.

What's odd about it. We are talking royalty here. They are above everything. Besides if the main stream media isn't upset about all these vacations, the surfs must be ok with it also. Do you think the main stream media would be as quiet about this if the Bush's had vacationed as much as the Obama's have? Is there a double standard here?

not a big fan of politicians in general, but do like facts, truth and accuracy
there is enough to not like people about that we don't need to make it up

President George H.W. Bush: This president headed to the family compound in Kennebunkport, Me. for his get-aways for a total of 543 days in four years.

President Jimmy Carter: Georgia was the destination for still another president, but the Carters were away only 79 days out of four years, which is pretty extraordinary.

President Ronald Reagan: Another rancher, President Reagan would fly to Rancho del Cielo, his ranch in Santa Barbara, Calif., spending 484 days there over eight years.

President George W. Bush, who racked up 1,020 vacation days in his eight years in office, including one five-week vacation, the most of any president in 36 years. Almost 3 out of 8 years while we were engaged in 2 wars, 9/11 and an economic collapse, 40% of his time in office.

President Bill Clinton: Clinton liked vacationing by the ocean, probably because he was from land-locked Arkansas, but the workaholic was only vacationing 152 days during his eight years, primarily on Martha’s Vineyard and Long Island’s the Hamptons.

So just how much vacationing has Obama done and how does he stack up with our past presidents?
President Obama in his first four years has taken 131 days, dividing his time between Hawaii, Martha’s Vineyard and, of course, Camp David, the official get away of U.S. presidents. At this rate, he could hit 262 days by the end of his eighth year, about average for modern presidents.

we don't need to fear the truth
