I think his first quote says a lot about him.

What bothers normal people the Most, is that Innocent people were Killed and Injured. Then comes the politics of what happened.
My feeling is that he previously had nothing to say about the Gun Debate and when the "Next Big Thing" happened he lobbed his opinion in like a flaming bag of dog poop.
