One way to combat these types of abuse is to have your camara rolling from the point of being pulled over. Make them aware they are also being taped, and the video is going right into your computer at home...so they cant tamper with "your" evidence. You can pick up the camara at any Autozome or Orielly's and position it right above your mirror on the inside of your vehicle. Have it pointed in the direction the officer would approach your vehicle. Attitudes will change as soon as you tell them they too are being recorded in case you need to go to court.
Despite multiple court cases to the contrary, that will likely send the bad seeds off on a tear in which they'll arrest you for non-violations of the state's wiretapping statutes.
I remember the case of the young white male in a suburb of St. Louis whose video taping and subsequent release lead to the complete disbanding of the town's police force and the town contracting with St. Louis PD for police service.
Not if you make them aware you are reording them as well. I pay my Atty very well, the advice i was given has worked like a charm...night and Day. Most officers get **** all day long, once they realize you are not trying to get on their bad side, they do respect that
So who is responsible for policing the police? I believe it is up to each one of us to ensure that they too follow the rules. Last I checked it was not illegal to film a public servant operating in public and ones that threaten individuals with confiscation of property or bodily harm should be released from service and receive no pay, severances or pension.
