MO - Check Point Traffic Stops - Positive experience

I shared this on another site... thought I would share here.

Had a fun experience this evening.

My wife, son's girlfriend and I dropped my son off at Ft Leonard Wood, MO. and started home. Low and behold there was one of those very annoying and somewhat questionable rights violation traffic check points.
As we sat there for about 20 minutes waiting for the 9 cars in front of us to go through, my wife found our insurance papers. I pulled my DL and CCW permit out. Keep in mind we have sat for about 20 minutes waiting. (The officers were doing three at a time and I am relatively sure they had one drunk because they made him pull his car to the side.)

I was fortunate enough to be the first one in the next set of three. Handed the officer my DL, CCW permit and Insurance card. Thirty seconds (30) was about all it took. He looked at the IDs, insurance card and said, "Sir, be careful on the way home. There are a lot of nutty people out there. I trust you are carrying safely. Have a nice night."

Thank you - Mr. Officer. Hope you made it home safely too.

The times I have showed my id's to an officer, it has always been positive. Only one asked me where the gun was, I told him on my side and he just nodded and handed my stuff back and said have a nice day. I have yet to encounter "the one cop" but I sure eventually I will.

I saw that checkpoint as I drove by on the Interstate. Heading to OH to deliver My next load of beef.

In Oz we call it a Booze Bus. About three or four police cars (two in one vehicle), two directing traffic, two at going through the cars asking you breath through a "Glad Bag" (Breathalyzer) as we jokingly call it, two at the end of the line...and of course the Booze Bus (an actual bus the size of a huge RV to test you further for alcohol levels, charge you with drunkenness, etc., whatever the police do to those drunks...maybe beat the living daylights out of you or something, I don't know...I haven't been caught because I actually do not drink alcohol.

Anyway, now I know you have them here too...our catch phrase is "Drink and Drive...you're a bloody idiot!"
