I have been going to a crossfit gym the past couple years. While I train there, some of the MMA/Cage fighters train there as well. The gym owners invited my wife and I to an amateur cage fight the other night, and it really got me interested into joining the MMA gym as well. I would really like to see where I am in this world when it comes to unarmed fighting. It was a real eye opener to see the size of some of these guys, and even more surprising to see how some of the small guys took the huge guys down. Technique and power is not always visible, and a lot of these fighters you couldn't pick out of a crowd. The level of respect at these matches is amazing as well, unfortunately a there are still people that train at those gyms that never make it into the amateur/professional league, and have no respect for the people around them, and they walk among us.
I have a few questions that I would like opinions on:
1. If I were to start MMA/Cage fighting, will that effect in the eyes of the law/jury when I would be justified to use a firearm? (Ie: I am young, fit, and now professionally trained in hand to hand combat, do I have even more duty to fight without a firearm?)
2. Will joining a gym and sport, seen as a pretty violent sport, be seen negatively if I ever had to defend myself with a firearm? (ie: "This guy is a MMA/Cage fighter, he is violent, aggressive...he should never own a gun in the first place...etc")
