Minnesota and Washington, no reciprocity with AZ

Looking at the map on this site, I find out that I have no reciprosity with Minnesota or Washington State with my Arizona CCW permit. However, if I obtain a CCW permit from Utah as a non-resident, I then have reciprocity with these two states. Can anyone tell me wha't up with this situation? My state grants reciprocity to all other CCW holders of all other States. I travel to these states about once a year and feel like a criminal unless my pistol is locked up in a safe.

"My state grants reciprocity to all other CCW holders of all other States."

Arizona allows permit holders in other states to carry in Arizona. That doesn't allow an AZ holder to carry in other states.

Really dissed by WA and MN

Yeah, I know. It just ticks me off that Washington and Minnesota recognize non-resident Utah CCW in thier state but won't recognize CCW from AZ. If I were in the AZ lesilature, I would push for non recognition of those states permits in AZ. Reciprocity works both ways not just one.

I'm in Minnesota and Minnesota recognizes the Texas permit but Texas does not recognize my MN permit. But TX does recognize my PA non-resident permit. Different states but same situation as yours. For Minnesota to recognize another states permit, that state's permitting processes (classes, training, requirements) have to be considered equal or greater than the MN requirements for MN to recognize that states permits. Evidently MN feels the Arizona process is not substantially similar. I wrote the AG in Texas to see why TX rejected MN permits. I was told it had to do with the way MN did not have a continuity on background checks. I wrote back to get a clarification. I'm still waiting after several months.

:laugh:The U.S. Senate took this up and national reciprocity missed passing by just one vote. There must be a bunch of goof-balls in every state legislature that think that one more day of class, one more test or a few more targets shot will make better citizens or weed out a few more applicants. Arizona is pretty close to granting concealed carry to every law abiding citizen when they are in thier car or outdoors without a permit. At the present time concealed carry :to_pick_ones_nose:in AZ without a permit is a misdemenor.

A recent article at MSNBC quoted Utah's chairman of the state Concealed Weapons Review Board.
Utah, Florida help non-residents pack guns - Life- msnbc.com

"When it comes to background checks, he said, “I’ll put Utah’s process up against any other state’s.” He said residents with concealed-carry licenses are checked for run-ins with the law on a daily basis. Out-of-state permit holders are checked quarterly, Aposhian said, but he expects the state to implement a daily check within 18 months."

Maybe that's what the Texas AG meant by continuity on background checks.

I think this could be shakey ground to start treading on. One think I would personally like to see is everyone honoring everyone's CCW. Not start this if you don't honor mine I won't honor yours BS. That could get into a spitting contest we CCW's will definitely loose on. JMHO :pleasantry:
