Military to Pay for Own Medical Treatment?

Yesterday, while watching the news on TV, it was mentioned again that the President is again talking of having our military pay for their own treatment of combat wounds, etc. He started this once before and stated that we were all volunteers (as in mercenaries?) and shouldn't mind paying for our medical care. He said"...after all, its only money!" When did our military stop being representatives and defenders of our nation? If it wasn't for the military, who would defend our nation and the majority of the world? It isn't the cost of our military that has the U.S. in such a financial bind. How about all the illegal aliens who are draining us financially and give very little in return? Or all the money we send to foreign countries who turn around and spit in our faces? I don't claim to be the smartest man in the world but I can see where we are headed and it sure isn't pretty. We need to light a fire under our representatives in Washington and demand that something be done before we all go under.

It's not just Obama. ALL of them are in it for what they can get, their all crooks. They spend MILLIONS of their own money to get a part time job that pays $170,000 and all of them wind up rich. All of them need throwing out. I'm retired and have Health Ins and Medicare, but how about the younger people that can't find Jobs today. Look at the News, no one is worried about anything except screwing the Dem Party. In this economy if the Taxes go up we are all screwed. Also in two years the Rep are going to look so bad that Obama will get another four years. Their talking about cutting Medicare, If they do, most Doctors will refuse to take patients. Then your Ins co will refuse to pay the whole amount. None of them are looking at the whole picture. The News says the unemployment is 9.5 %, that's a bunch of Bull, it's more like 12 to 14%. They show an increase in House sales, sure people with money are jumping on Houses that are being sold at 50% of their value by Banks. Everything you see on the News is propaganda. The Military should get free Health Care for life, they deserve it.

Obama never actually made those statements concerning having Veterans pay for combat wounds. What he has planned may be just as bad though. He wants insurance company's to reimburse the DOD for combat care.

The Dod, i.e. Robert Gates SOD (previously under GWB, as well) is the one you have to worry about as far as Veteran's benefits are concerned. DoD is in a serious budget crises, has been for years now, and will do anything they can to squeeze one more dime from anywhere they can. Weapons programs, personnel, and yes Veteran's and medical are all getting cuts. Or in the case of Tricare, et al, increases for premiums and cost share. It's just a question how much from where.

Just hope your buddies in Congress, particlarly the military-related comittees, stop him where appropriate.

I am Active Military, almost 20 years, the new joes and mollies have to set up a 401k type savings, they are not set for a retirement under military retirement. Now you make comments about medical care, why do we have MEDICS/CORPSMEN? We have one of the best medical schools in Texas, so what now?

We hear about this transparentcy BS, for things that are not of big concern. Like asking to wipe after using the toilet.
But not getting the clear story about country destroying actions.

Divorce agreement

I think there is an appropriate way to say this but this young student did...

Dear American liberals, leftists, social progressives, socialists, regressive, Marxists, and Obama supporters, et. al.:

We have stuck together since the late 1950s for the sake of the kids, but the whole of this latest election process has made me realize that I want a divorce. I know we tolerated each other for many years for the sake of future generations, but sadly, this relationship has clearly run its course.

Here is a model separation agreement:

1. Our two groups can equitably divide up the country by land mass, each taking a similar portion. That will be the difficult part, but I am sure our two sides can come to a friendly agreement. After that, it should be relatively easy. Our respective representatives can effortlessly divide other assets since both sides had such distinct and disparate tastes.

2. We don't like redistributive taxes, so you can keep them.

3. You are welcome to the liberal judges and the ACLU.

4. Since you hate guns and war, we'll take our firearms, the cops, the NRA, and the military.

5. We'll take the nasty, smelly oil industry and you can go with wind, solar, and bio-diesel.

6. You can keep Oprah, Michael Moore, and Rosie O'Donnell. You are, however, responsible for finding a bio-diesel vehicle big enough to move all three of them.

7. We'll keep capitalism, greedy corporations, pharmaceutical companies, Wal-Mart, and Wall Street.

8. You can have your beloved lifelong welfare dwellers, food stamps, homeless homeboys, hippies, druggies, and illegal aliens.

If you renounce your citizenship, emmigrate to Mexico and return to the U.S. as an illegal and you'll get free health care. That's OK for the great orator. O-blame-ya misses the point every time. If no one volunteers then there is no military. Only a fool would volunteer to fight for a country that won't provide for medical care. I paid $1,100 per month for a family medical plan. Does The-Big-O expect a soldier to pay that premium on a military salary? If the U.S. can't support the troops then they shouldn't place them in harm's way.

Actually tbh4e VA started charging Service-Connected Veterans for the care of their combat injuries back in 1994 when the Democrats lost control of the Congress to the Republicans. Between November 1994 and January 15 1995 the Democrats passed a slew of laws that hurt America's Verterans. First was to upgrade the VA to departmental status and adding yet another administrative4 hearing board to the Va's Adjudications systen, changing the wor4ding of Section 1151 to remove VA fault whenever a Veteran is injured or killed by qany number of VA interns, residents, College professors and/or nurses. It was during this time period that the Democrats also opened up the VA Medical systen to all Veterans allowing thoise Veterans with private health insurance to use the VA's medical system and the charges billed to their private Health Insurance. Only at that time the VA started billing our private insurance for the treatment of our Service-Connected Disabilities and Conditions. Ever since December 1994 when the Democrats opened the VA up I have been telling every Veteran with a Service-Connected Disability and/or condition NOT to give the VA any private health insurance information. YES especually if they have private health insurance. That way the VA is unable to charge their private health insurance for the treatment of their Service-Connected Disailities and Conditions. By law aq Veteran is only required to tell the VA about their health insurance if they use the VA's medical facilities for other than their Service-Connected Disabilities and Conditions.

Now if a Veteran has private health Insurance they have NO BUSINESS using the Va Hospitalds and Clinics. That is because they ar placing their lives in harms way so very unneccessarily. I mean if a person does not object to receiving their mediccal care from College professors and their students then fine go you your local med school. I was operated on by the VA back in 2003 and they screwed it up and I was sent to Vanderbilt for corrective surgery. I received much better care at Vandy then I did at the Va and Vandy was using the exact same interns and residents as did the VA. So is you do not mind being treated by interns, residents and college professors then by all means go to a state controlled college hospital like th4e University of Tennessee, Vandy or U Texas or Penn State. You will receive much better care and YES they will only charge you whatever your insurance will cover in most cases.

If the medical care provided through Tricare was ever taken from my fellow service members, you'll see overwhelming numbers of us getting out of the military. For many, many people serving the medical care is at the top of the list for reasons why. It's a great benifit for those of us who have children... and that's who it really matters for. Many of us do this for our children, first and foremost... then our spouses, then other family members... then we ourselves fall somewhere at the bottom of the list.

I know that if my families benifits are stripped, I'm seperating and taking my chances as a civilian.
