Military Excesises in North Raleigh, NC

Two nights ago (Wednesday) Multiple reports were called into local LEO's as were the local news media, seems as though it was a military excerise in North Raleigh using 5 Apachee's. The news reported it was a military training excersise, Over north Raleigh and over 500K homes at 8:00 PM at night. Really makes one wonder just what the feds are up to. Yeh I say B.S. There is no part of Raleigh that looks like Iran or anywhere in the middle east. Wouldn't the residents really be pleased to learn that those pilots actually had a weapon lock on an individual or residence. Just not right and something is definately up.

Goes right with the new targets that the Feds are using portraying pregnant women with guns, kids with guns, seniors with guns, etc.

Do you realize military training, involving aircraft of any type will require air space over civilian population. Also cities give good practice for pilots to navigate urban areas at night. You also cannot only train for the current theater, war could break out anywhere.

Yeah I seen when Miami was having the same too so I guess that they are getting ready for a war.

You are absolutely correct on all counts. This hasn't happened before in this area, at least like this, timing and location struck me as very odd and still doesn't make sense.

So my question is training a good thing or bad thing? Is this nefarious? Are we paranoid or just observing? Just passing thoughts (kinda like gas)

Getting the troops conditioned to combat flight over civilian homes... same thing for the little DHS punks that they've armed... they're getting their training, also.
If you believe the feds aren't planning to be using their might against you, you need to pull your heads out of the sand. Good grief, America, wake up and smell the stench!

The military has training flights over cities all the time. I don't understand why people are worried about the military. I live in one of the most liberal cities in the country, and I guarantee you that if the civilian leadership gave an order to either initiate door to door confiscation or attack American citizens, 99% of my Marines and all of my senior leadership would the first ones to tell them to go fck themselves and start the revolution themselves. Folks who have never served think the the military just blindly follows the orders of those of above them. To a point, that is your job, but if somebody gives you an order you know is morally or ethically wrong most of us have no problem whatsoever telling them to go pound sand.

I can only hope you are right but this administration has, from the beginning, said it would have a civilian defense force equal to the military. DHS immediately comes to mind as well as all of those other government agencies which have been ordering weapons and ammunition. There will be some in the military who will probably go against civilians and, combined with the civilian defense force, will give us much grief!

It is not the training flights that are the problem. It is the roping out of choppers into the city that is ill advised. Somebody could get shot. And as far as training flights, how about aerial refueling of choppers off of orbiting C-130s at about 1000 AGL over populated areas in the US?

If their refueling at 1000 AGL over population centers that not only dangerous but its illegal. Part 91 (Fligh regulations) Sec.119 of the CFR states minimum altitude over congested areas is 1000 ft above the highest obstacle which In most cities is at least a couple hundred feet.

In 1992 it was done all day long just south of Miami. It was done so the choppers could stay aloft between pickups and drops and to save weight. And it went on for several days straight. And while illegal, doesn't mean it wasn't done. Just like our curfew at night. In our area, the highest object would have been a two story house. Or our comm towers. We had the only ones standing between Kendall and Florida City.

Refueling is for extended flight. What is your issue with this?
Populated areas, low altitude, choppers with loads in slings, fuel residue leakage concentrated in a small area just to name several. And to match speed with the C-130, the choppers had to fly at a speed that caused loss of cargo out of the slings at times. Garbage bags being one of the things dropped.

be prepared is all I can say, there's a lot of messages being sent and non of them look too good, FWIW: many of you keep saying that it is a civilian arm of FEMA we need to be worried about and none of you seem to realize that we are one executive order away from the constitution being made irrelevant and actual military troops could be used against civilians

Could this all be apart of conditioning... for the troops as well as the people?
That is my thinking. The military has plenty of places to practice other than in the middle of Miami and other towns. Heck, they even build mock towns on some bases just for training. Including at Ft Bragg.
