Military Credit on Non-Resident Permits

I'm a retired Army guy presently living abroad who would like to get a CCW permit prior to my return to the US. Are there any states that will issue such a permit based on military firearms qualifications? I qualified on M14, shotgun, .45, .38 and M16. Thanks for the help.

Wisconsin, but I don’t believe they have a non-resident permit.

There are a few. For example Florida accepts your DD-214 as the qualification but you would still need to get fingerprinted so that is where you may run into an issue.

I would go to the Concealed Carry Resources on this site and check the state of your home of record. Depending on the state, you may be able to get a CCW from there.
You are technically a resident of that state and some do have special provisions for active duty military.

Washington has no silly training or qualification requirements, but you have to apply in person and be fingerprinted.

Thanks for the reply. I'll contact them and see if they'll accept a fingerprint card from here. I had one done at the US Embassy for a teaching license in Florida once upon a time.

Unfortunately I'm not active any longer and my home of record is Michigan, which doesn't accept military training and requires a rather long class with range time. I will check further though. Thanks!

I plan to be travelling a while in the US as well as getting some hip replacement surgery so figured that it would limit my ability for self-defense to the point where I need something extra. Will be checking on where the non-resident CPL is reciprocted.
