So what the hell would we do? We live in Colorado and my husband is stationed in Bahrain. How the heck would we move him back here? And reduce military pay raises? They are already as low as legally allowed! Any less would be no raise at all... only BAH keeps many over the cost of living, especially the lower enlisted.

This is what happens when the sheeple Baaaa throughout the land, elect someone to a second term that had NEVER gotten a budget passed ever and yet increased the debt 6 trillion dollars. The country is broke and broken... Detroit is just the tip of the iceberg and if you haven't noticed, the guard is already having their pay dropped 20%. Expect more of the same now that he doesn't have to worry about re-election.

To answer your question, "what the hell do you do now?" Pray, hunker down, tighten your belt and make sure you tell everyone you know, every day until the next election, the horrors that have come from this administration so they may get rid of his kind. One problem with that... we must have a candidate that is not his kind to vote for.

One problem with that... we must have a candidate that is not his kind to vote for.

We do, actually... T.J. O'Hara. It's just nobody knows who he is (he refuses to advertise or deal with the media, or accept large sums of money from anyone)! Very smart guy, and he refuses to name a party (democrat, republican... none of that) so that he can represent the people, not be beholden to a party. Check him out, and if you like him, spread the word.

And yeah, my goal is to vanish into the mountains someday.

IMHO its all part of a much larger plan to reduce the influence of our military and get the sheeple to support more deficit spending, all the while making more people full dependent on Big Brother. In other words, the end of the US as the world once knew it.

Yeah, trying to! I'm closer to trusting O'Hara partly because he refuses to deal with the media, which is why nobody knows who he is! He was a write-in at the last election, because as it turns out, you need lots of money and to follow some crazy rules that aren't remotely constitutional in order to be on the ballot. Like pick a vice president to run with you (he refused to name one). Remember way back when the people got to pick the vice president separately from the president? Yup, still supposed to be that way!

OK. First thing is that there is no way they would keep people in a deployed area for another tour, political suicide. What they are talking about is people transferring INCONUS. That is the only way they can save money is by no issuing orders. Once orders are cut, they can't circumvent Joint Federal Travel Regulations which state what is authorized for a member under orders. Same with BAH cuts. They don't have the authority to just reduce them. They may not go up in areas where the cost of living has gone up, but they can't drop them without another political suicide.

I have been military since 1984, and I know there is waste fraud and abuse at all levels. They are using scare tactics to get the public up in arms about Sequester. They could make smart cuts to the Defense budget, but they don't want to. Call your congress-critters and speak out! Not promoting people is within their purview, sort of, but not paying people they have promoted is also dangerous.
