Michigan CPL application concern

I am applying for my MI CPL and have a concern about my past.

The reason for applying is due my career in corrections and safety precautions I feel are necessary for my and my family's well being. I should also note that I have legally and responsibly owned several handguns and long guns for several years.

I have never been convicted of any crimes whatsoever but there is a past police report with my name on it.

In 2010, I was 23, and was going through a very rough patch. A long term relationship had just ended, I lost my job due to company restructuring, and had learned my parents were getting divorced. I was going to therapy over the loss of my relationship and was on an antidepressant/anxiety med temporarily. However, the day I had learned I had lost my job, I called my mother after leaving work rather hysteric and told her I wanted to drive my truck into the river I had parked near. She called the police. They found me still in my truck, rather distraught but I had not attempted anything, nor would I have. The Officer talked with me for a while and told me he wanted me to go to the hospital and gave me the chance to check myself in voluntarily rather than involuntarily committing me. I agreed and he gave me a ride there and took me into the ER where they evaluated me and discharged me within a couple hours as the social worker said that I did not present any danger to myself.

It was now been seven years and my life is completely stable. I am 30 years old, married, own a home, work in corrections, have no mental instabilities(as I have come to learn they were totally situational and not uncommon) and have learned to cope with grief in a healthy way.

My question is, would that history cause my cpl to be denied, even though it doesn't technically meet the statutory denial criteria set by the state of Michigan?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Good luck with that.

I have always treated lay-off's with liquor not suicidal thoughts.

There is always a sliver lining to every cloud.

If you are prone to such suicidal thought then it might be best not to have any guns in your house.

As to whether your state bureau of investigations approves you or not will have to be seen.

I am not prone to suicidal thoughts. Perhaps you did not comprehend the subject matter of the original post, or perhaps you just did not read it in its entirety. My mental health is no longer of concern. I owned firearms even through that situation and never did I even fathom using them in a sinister way. The whole situation was and still is very embarrassing and regrettable to say the least and is not something that I openly speak about. Not looking for judgement, just advice/experience.

Well I read your post.

Perhaps your writing did not communicate very well what you were trying to relate.

What I got out of it was a suicidal thinking individual whose mom had to call the cops on him for his own sake.

That's not good when you are around guns.

You case is so borderline that it will just take time before the state BCI makes a determination.

What were you looking for ?? Sunshine blown at you ??

No need to be condescending. Yes, that is what happened, it is in 7 years in the past. I don't need a lecture on gun safety. Believe me, I know what they are and of what they are capable.
Your reply has no reasonable value to the question that I asked. All you offered was a lecture about something from 7 years ago that I cannot change and a "wait and see what happens". If i were going to wait and see what happens, I would not be posting in this forum in the first place. Thanks, but you can blow your sunshine somewhere else.

Communication is a 2 way street.

And writing is especially difficult and challenging.

Everybody finds this out eventually, especially in their technical writing classes in college.

It is unwise to take the advice of complete strangers on a forum for such an important legal matter so let me suggest spending the money and speaking to an attorney. An attorney can help you access things like police reports or asist in getting a favorable Dr's statement.

That's an expensive solution to a non-problem.

Answer the questions on the form.

Don't lie.

Don't omit anything relevant.

Then wait and see what the state BCI says.
