MD pressuring Gov Snyder to veto SB 789...

While I don't like some of the provisions of the verson of this bill that went to the gov, the fact remains that its passage would make MI a true shall issue state. Moms Demand wants to keep county gun boards in place, and they are trying to represent the bill as allowing all people under a PPO to own firearms. The bill does allow a non-violent individual under a PPO to own a firearm, but it is not a blanket license for everyone as MD would like everyone to believe. I still think Snyder will veto the bill.

The thing that bugs me is Gabby Gifford had/has a concealed carry permit, but when she went out to make a public speech she did not carry. Hence, you see what happened. Having a C/C permit and not carrying is liken to having an empty fire extinguisher in you house. Or, taking the batteries out of your fire alarm.
She is one of the worst examples to be telling anyone about use of guns.

Snyder just vetoed sb 789 over "domestic violence" concerns.

Why was a PPO provision in this bill? I'm asking because I don't know. Isn't the outcome predictable.

They are tying to restore firearms rights to non-violent offenders.

Or was that PPO portion a carefully calculated "poison pill" intended to cause a veto?

Seems like too much in the bill. Getting rid of gun boards and streamlining the permit process seems like a better fight to me.
