Police release new information in Wednesday's shooting | Local News - KCCI Home

Edit Update: 10 minutes later... Watching the local propaganda channel, no less than five firearms related stories. Now one of the five was an update to my original post, but also included a trumped up scare at a grade school about a kid who allegedly had a gun. No gun found, not even a toy gun. I'm so glad that "nobody was injured" as they put it.

The leftwing antis are in full auto moron mode.

Police Chief Judy Bradshaw said the situation could have been "horrific." She said the high powered assault weapon has capabilities far beyond what her officers carry -- she said the officers were outgunned. She praised officers for their courage during the situation.

Really? Her officers don't carry AR-15 style patrol rifles, which are quite likely the equivalent of "high powered assault weapon" the shooter was using.

I wonder what side of the pro/anti gun movement she sits on?

Ya, she's a real piece of work. There is a lot of bad information in the report. Especially that part where the police spokesman was talking about how easy it is to buy a long gun. He was correct that no "permit" is required to buy a rifle. However, what he failed to mention, is that checks are still done. It's their system that failed to do the job, not the law it self. Bottom line is, they get what they want when they impose laws about doing checks and having permits, but even when they get them, their own system still fails and then they still blame the guns.

Edit add: The dead criminal was wielding a an AR10. Not an AR15. Those dumbasses are clueless.

Article says "Witnesses reported to police that a man with a black rifle was being fired into passing cars and into homes."
.
Who was firing this man into cars and homes?

I was going to make a joke about that too, but thought it was too easy. Guess not! LOL

The news media in Iowa has to have some of the most ignorant reporters in the country and the DesMoines Police aren't far behind in their stupidity. I refuse to spend good money to buy the Register, but I would be interested to see if their story on the shooting displayed equal ignorance. Fortunately the Iowa Firearms Coalition and the Iowa State Rifle and Pistol Association are able to counter some of the colossal ignorance often displayed in the Iowa Senate.

Exactly my friend. Word for word, exactly.

Our wonderful press at it again. They don't even proof-read anymore.

I live in Oklahoma and I find the same problem with the press. I think the problem is they can not find anyone smart enough to proof read, I told our newspaper the other day they needed to fire whoever hired the people and get someone in charge that could at least spell.

I think when papers and other media outlets started downsizing, the proofreaders were the first to go. After all, they didn't produce anything.

That sure seems to be the case. It's so irritating to try and read something that makes no sense. Our local paper has got to be the worst ever. How much trouble is it to just READ an article before you print it? You'd catch 90% of the mistakes if you just did this.

Some do, so do not. According to the Chief, there are between 2 and 10 units with ARs at any given time, this based on the training of the officers on duty. (I know, hilarious isn't it?). Unfortunately at that time, there were only two on duty and they were on the wrong side of the city.

And an AR-10 beats a AR-15 on most days.

When my sister was 15 yo, she took a copy of our local newspaper and edited it with a red pen. Upon advice of our father, she sent the edited paper to the editor of the paper. We expected to hear nothing. What we did hear was astonishing. He offered her a job!!!

When Dad took his little girl down to the newspaper you can imagine the astonished look on the editor's face.

As most of us already know, there is no such thing as a journalist anymore. It's been this way for many years.

There are only talking heads who do/say what they are told.

Right, when THEIR system fails they want to lay the blame at the feet of law adiding gun owners. These people make me want to vomit.
