Massachusetts LTC renewal

So i renewed my LTC in February this year, it expired in April but technically im still covered for 90 days. So the local PD said it will take 2-3 months start to finish. It has been a little more than 3 months and i still dont have it.

are there any other people from mass that have gone thru it this year and if so what are the realistic wait times.

ironically Mass general law says the process will not take more than 40 days...hahaha

Have you checked in with the PD to see if they received it yet? I haven't had to renew yet, but I have heard stories of licenses coming in and sitting at the PD for weeks because they don't bother to notify the licensee. If it hasn't come in yet, I would suggest contacting GOAL; they like to know about unlawful delays and may be able to help you get it cleared up.

I agree with oldwindways, ask them where it is. If the law says no longer than 40 days and is taking that long they are breaking the law. Also, if the PD is TELLING you it could be up to 90 days, that is also breaking the law because they are providing fraudulent information. I'd report them for both violations, personally.

CCW hold up???

Also check their heels to see if they are dragging their feet. Most likely.

so i call the mass firearms bereau today. they atually told me that the license was printed and mailed out on the 18th of may. It should have taken a day to get to my local pd and maybe a couple days for him to call. So do i go bug the loal PD. I dont want to piss them off but its been wayy long time.

Granted everything in this state is screwed up..what do you think

Absolutely call them! Under MA law you need a permit to have a firearm in your home. If your permit expires and you don't have someone in your home who can legally have a firearm you are now unlawfully in possesion of a firearm.(most likely not an issue but it could be) Call them and speak to the firearms officer, it is most likely on his desk so go get it.

I applied on march 26th for a new ltc even though I did have one in the past that was long expired I was told needed to apply for new not renewal. was told 70 days. Today makes day 72

Flashlight22 Was going to call but didn't want to tick anyone off. Figured I would wait a few extra day's before making the call. Guess my patience worked. GOT IT today 75 days after application, All be it resticted to sporting will be happy with that until renewal time and then see what I can do. Was told on day one my city does NOT issue unrestricted permits period.
