Man Who Hunted Bin Laden With a Sword Now Jailed on a Gun Charge

His past came back to bite him. The fruits of ones labor, even if they're sour, will be what you will be judged by. A convicted felon, is a convicted felon. NO guns allowed. It's a shame but there it is.

Are you kidding? You are going to defend the right of the state to remove a man's right to defend himself because of "fruits of his labor" no matter when or how long agoor how this man's life may have changed since and then have the nerve to put this in your signature?

"The smallest minority on earth is the individual. Those who deny individual rights cannot claim to be defenders of minorities." --author and philosopher Ayn Rand (1905-1982)

Wow.

I'm not a big fan of Rand, but that quote says it all.

However, there is a difference between "acknowledging reality" and "supporting the status quo". *I* fully support the ability of felons to get their gun rights back, but at the same time, I understand that the reality right now is that if you have been convicted of a felony, you have effectively given up many of your rights. (Ironically, you get to keep many of your privileges, though.) You do the crime, you do the time, and all that. And right now, the law says you lose certain rights. Forever.

Work to change the law, don't yell at people who acknowledge the law.

It's difficult to change the law when even half the gun owners on this forum still live under the assumption that it's a "good" thing to have laws to keep guns out of the hands of felons.

The fact is there is NOTHING you can do to keep guns out of the hands of anyone who wants to do you harm. They will get the tools they need with no regard for the law whatsoever. It's FAR easier than the media makes usbelieve. To someone who wants to do you harm the background checks aren't even a bump in the road and they just make fun your the naivete of everyone who thinks it is.

What the gun law do create is create a class of people who have had their HUMAN right of defense stripped away leaving them wide open for attack. There are millions of drug offenders, falsely accused husbands (abuse), people who committed white collar crimes, and even the fully rehabilitated former criminals who just want to live their lives in peace and to be left alone by the government AND the criminals.

Thomas Jefferson said "No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms".

He was one of the authors of our constitution. Does that sound like the words of a man who would ever condonea lifetime sentence once a man's incarceration time is served?

If the people interested in 2nd amendment rights that post on this forum don't get it, how can the general public that cowers away and screams for the police everytime they see a muzzle protruding an inch below your untucked shirt ever get it?

If a man is a danger to society lock him up and keep him there. If he's not, why is he no longer considered to have human rights?

Excellent Points!

A=A, it is what it is. If you want to change the Law then do it but you can't change the reality of the current dictates. The loss of rights being a convicted felon has been on the books for years. These are not new. If you don't like or agree with current laws then help effect change. Do you regularly attend city/county or any legislative meeting or interact with any legislator? Letters to the editor?
Be active in your community NOT JUST on a web site. THIS my friend will assist in changing the quality of life and the dictates the effect it.

Wow.

Hey.... Mr. "my actions aren't my fault" is back. You and the guy in the article have a lot in common. You both think you have you're own rules to follow. It always good to have an admitted felon on the site giving bad advice.

Already doing that my friend. My entire family is actively involved in campaigns on the side of citizens and human rights from president down to sheriff. I regularly write letters to the editor or our newspaper and correspond with the local columnists for our newspaper.

These are all the types of things we all should do. Unfortunately it won't work as long as there are gun rights "advocates" like warbirds who are so easily led like a sheep to believe that "felon" means what it meant when our country was founded. Many of you on this forum have committed "felonies" and have no idea. All I know is that when I die I hope I can come up with a convincing argument for admittance in heaven as I stand before Warbirds for judgement.

We need to ban together. If we weren't bound by so many laws there would be a lot less REAL felons standing trial because they would be lying at room temperature after they tried to rape our well armed wives. If they didn't have to worry about such goofy unconstitutional laws like:
1) What if my CCW is in my gym bag?
2) Can I pull my gun without pulling the trigger if the guy runs away without going to jail?
3) Can I drive to my sister's house across the border in New York with my gun?
4) I'm not sure if I registered the right handgun for my ccw, can I go to jail for that?

It's been 42 years since the 2nd amendment was destroyed. All this talk has not accomplished much. Woopeee! Now we might be able to have ccw's in Illinois! Now we've got an INSTANT background check! Wow! Jefferson would be proud of how we've taken our rights back... lol.

Do you guys realize that 42 years is an entire generation? How many of you are under 60? You are the one's who have given this country to the enemy by continuing to vote for those who HATE our freedom in exchange for a little money in your pocket (Clinton and his so called "good" economy, for example)

You'll do it again. You will vote for Romney or Gingrich because they will keep your social security solvent at least until you are dead (after which you don't give a crap) and they will guaranty that you can go on living the recliner - to Mcdonalds drive thru - to mindless job - to bank - to store - to recliner life without the interruption of something radically different.

There is only one candidate for president that stands for our rights. Only one. Do some homework and figure which one that is. If I have to be the one to tell you and your aren't willing to do your own research then you should stay home on election day, you don't deserve to vote.

(By "you" I'm talking generically to anyone this applies to - There are probably few on this forum that it applies to, but since Warbirds responded in his judgemental way I'll say he and guys who narrowly believe the way he does about other human beings are the "you".)

Before anyone starts to listen to this guy..... read his other posts. There are people on this site that have truly gotten the shaft and do not deserve to have lost their rights.

This guy if not one of those people.

And Mr "I am a victim, my decisions shouldn't be held against me", you will not stand before me in heaven for judgment. You have already stood before a judge and been judged.

You call me a sheep while you spend your time trying to find a gullible flock to listen to your crap.

Copy and paste it right here. Don't throw out accusations like that and then make people search for the illusive proof of my guilt. Post it up and let's see how many agree.

I don't dance to your tune......that is why im not one if your sheep. The posts are on this site. The guys in your "would you give this felon a gun" thread found them. So can everyone else. You insist on opening multiple threads trying to muddy the water to get people to believe your bleeding heart, I shouldn't be accountable for my actions, story. The funny thing is that you are finding more people that won't tolerate your crap than people that will cry you a river. get a clue, you made your bed, lie in it.
