Southfield man shoots self in penis | wzzm13.com

(DETROIT FREE PRESS) - A Southfield man is recovering after accidentally shooting himself in the ***** as he adjusted his gun, according to police.

The 45-year-old heating and air-conditioning company employee was on a job in Birmingham on Tuesday when the incident took place, Birmingham Police Deputy Chief Mark Clemence said today. He was getting ready to work and was moving the .40-caliber Glock pistol in his pants when it discharged at 11:15 a.m.

"Through and through, if you can believe it," Clemence said. "The situation could have been a lot worse. You think about it -- your femoral artery runs down there. He could have shot it off. It could have been a lot worse. It's a big bullet; you're not talking a small bullet."

A coworker on the job on the 300 block of Wimbleton saw the accident and drove the man to Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak. Clemence said today he did not know if the man has been released.

Although he had a permit to carry the gun, he may face charges of reckless discharge of a firearm, Clemence said. The city's prosecutor is expected to review the case, he added.

Don't go off half-cocked!
i'm still laughing my azz off at that but seriously i do feel sorry for him and his accidental discharge i don't think the judge should have charged him being he undoubtedly learned his lesson a very rude awakening none the less and didn't hurt anyone ......
ps btw welcome aboard! i see that was your first post
good sense of humor too lolz

It was an accident. Period. And because accidents like this can happen, I still elect to own sidearms with external safeties (even though I am rather partial to Glock).

It isn't posting correctly because it contains the word "p****" and the URL now contains asterisks instead of the word - the board automatically makes the change to a URL or title containing certain forbidden words.

amazing how word like p.... and v..... etc are demonized as 'bad' words geesh that is just too silly to me that we censor words and don't get me started on the 'n' word lolz all political psy-ops bs if ya ask me

There are things we can do. In the jurisdictions where the prosecutors are elected we can vote them out if they prosecute cases like this. If I am a grand juror I would lobby for a no bill. If I am a petit juror on a similar case the best the court can hope for is a hung jury.

The guy screwed up. Why would we even need to threaten him with prosecution? Do they think this guy might not have learned his lesson? Do they think his punishment is not severe enough? Do they think it is funny to add to his grief or is this just a chance to punish a gun owner?

Why is it always a Glock that goes off in someones pants. Maybe because there are so many of them? He obviously didn't have it in a proper holster for a gun without a safety. I would never carry my LCP loose it has to.have something over the trigger cause it does not have a mechanical safety. Its just proper handling. But to charge hi
4 being stupid. NO!

We all are capable of making mistakes. Lesson learned. Hard lesson.

it don't matter what school he attended for his ccwp it's up to the individual to learn and practice safety regardless
the class i took to get my ccwp a second grader could have passed however i take the initiative upon myself to go well beyond the basics i got from my ccwp class in florida before i begin to carry a loaded pistol in public
sad thing is many seem to just take a three hour class if even to get their permit and never practice or go over laws and familiarize themselves with their own firearms enough to handle it in safe manner ......granted even some very seasoned shooters have accidents but certainly the more you know and practice the less chance of accident ........
be safe peeps
