"Man Accidentally Shoots Self"

Once again the gene pool gets refined as I read in the local Charleston SC paper today about a man who ACCIDENTALLY shot himself AT A SHOOTING RANGE while TAKING HIS .40 CALIBER GLOCK APART. There are no words that can express the sheer stupidity of such a tragedy.

wow weird and almost unbelievable it was accident too......negligent perhaps or could it been deliberate suicide??? it doesn't say where the bullet entered or much else

Suicide for sure. The first step of Glock disassembly is to pull the trigger. Even when I just cleared the chamber I point in a safe direction to do so. No way one could accidentally hit himself in the chest.

Was his finger on the trigger?
If so, it was not an accident.
It was a negligent discharge.

Because people can't figure out that they have to keep their finger OFF of the trigger. They get complacent and that leads to then ring negligent.

Because they are very common and you have to pull the trigger to disassemble them.

How could this be a accident... Always keep your firearm pointed down range and finger of the trigger until your ready to engage your target. The Glock is not to be blamed, Why would one piont a firearm towards yourself to take it apart , ... According to news reports here in S.C. he shot himself in the chest and it is still under investigation. Sad to say I have been to that range and with some folks that go there your best off standing in front of them. Bad day for range personell (great staff). My main concern at any range are those whom make it obivious that they don't follow basic safety rules...
