Hi all I'm new here but have been lurking and relying on USA carry for info for a long time...its great!

I think I already know the answer to this question but I'll ask for a confirmation anyways...

is there no way that a MAINE resident can carry concealed in your great state???
I also have a NH non resident CCW and I see that CO honers NH resident only...

why oh why is this... I spent alot of time in CO every year on our yearly trip to AZ...we make several stops along 160 for camping...what a beautiful place Wolf creek pass and Pagosa Springs...man what a place

I hate to say this but I may just pass through this year...I hate to hurt the economy of CO by adopting this outlook but I have my personal and my families safty to be concerned with...I had an issue in Alamosa last year and its still fresh in my mind...

can you shed any light on why CO will not honer Maine in any way?

It seems that you will not be able to carry concealed here, but that shouldn't stop you from coming through CO at all. Just open carry. No permit needed, and you can do it everywhere except for Denver. But of course because of the Gun Free School Zones Act, you would need to stay away from schools while open carrying.

I echo Deserteagle's reply. No permit required to Open Carry in CO, with restrictions already stated.

The only technical issue on our side is that we require permit holders to be 21 years of age or older. But I believe Texas and Florida can issue to those under 21 and yet, both states are still recognized by Colorado.

The real problem is that Maine does not recognize our permit. All you have to do is have your attorney general contact our attorney general and explain Maine wants to formally recognize Colorado permits. Our a.g. will reply back explaining we'd be happy to recognize your resident permits for those that are 21 and older.

I will say that our laws create some interesting perplexities... The POTUS cannot carry concealed (or carry at all in Denver*) in Colorado but he is capable of launching nuclear weapons. Charles Heston similarly would not have been able to carry concealed here as well. Pick any notable person that resides in a state with no reciprocity with Colorado, and that does not have a business or property here, then you can add them to the same boat you're in. Your only options are to change your state or change your state. lol

The problem is the school zones. Especially in the city. While along the interstates and in the country you should generally be okay though.
