Livermore Falls man shot dead during Rome home invasion | The Morning Sentinel, Waterville, ME

ROME — A Livermore Falls man was shot to death Saturday night after breaking into a mobile home wearing a ski mask and brass knuckles, according to state police.
Christopher Dennison, 44, of Livermore Falls, was killed by the homeowner, Richard Duffy, 48, according to Stephen McCausland, Maine Department of Public Safety spokesman.

Duffy, who lives off state Route 225 in the Foss Hill Lane home with his teenage son, shot Dennison after a brief altercation in the living room about 8 p.m., according to McCausland.

An autopsy showed Dennison died from multiple gunshot wounds. Neither Duffy nor his son, who was home at the time, were injured. McCausland declined to say whether any other people were present at the time of the incident.

Duffy’s home, set well back from a dirt road, is out of view of any other residence. Monday morning, his neighbors pulled a chain across his driveway after feeding his animals, including several pigs and chickens.

The home is well-marked with signs reading “no trespassing” and “keep out.”

Duffy’s attorney, Tom Ferris, of Waterville, said Duffy was home, enjoying his evening, just before his property was invaded.

“We don’t have all the facts in yet, but from all appearances, this looks like straight-up self defense,” Ferris said. “It was a home invasion. My client was just defending himself and his family.”

Detectives are investigating the shooting, which will also be reviewed by the Maine Attorney General’s Office.

According to McCausland, there is no indication that Duffy and Dennison knew each other, and no charges have been filed.

In August, Duffy was sentenced to a suspended sentence and a $500 fine in Kennebec County Superior Court for having committed assault and criminal mischief on Feb. 1 in Oakland.

Thanks to the liberal press for bringing up irrelevant information that shouldn't have any bearing on this self defense case. SMH....

2nd Amendment again shines with due cause and justification. As for the side stories..........propaganda is the weapon of choice by the Libs. UNLESS you're a big money earning Lib and can afford armed security.

As I said in another post.....
"Here in Indiana the law just changed....we can shoot them THROUGH a door or window if they are in the, "ACT" of breaking in. Don't have to wait for them to be inside, or worry about dragging a body indoors after shooting them anymore."
