M1 Rifle

BLAM--BLAM--BLAM--BLAM--BLAM--BLAM--BLAM--BLAM-ping ! " The finest battle implement ever devised. " M2 ball -- turning cover into concealment for over a hundred years!

Gotta luv that rifle!

Warmest regards from a fellow enthusiast ---- Al

The M1, and qualifying 'Expert' with it as an E-1 'cruit during basic training at Ft Jackson in '61, won me my first ever 3 day pass, and my first promotion to E-2.

Still have a strong forever love for Mr Garand's masterpiece. I think the M-14 that I was first issued as a FNG, TDY in the ROV, in '63 was an even greater improvement over an almost perfect battle rifle.

For those of you lucky enough to own one or the other, you hold a wonder of American history in your hands. Love, treasure and enjoy it!

Best Wishes,

FLc

Qualified Expert on M-16 and Pistol in 66, but have and still shoot the M-1 my dad left to me. Love the Weapon. Patton said it all.

I am going to be shooting one at a CMP shoot in a couple of weeks.
Really looking forward to it.

I'll be buying one shortly from CMP. Just not sure if I'll travel the miles to Anniston, AL (7 1/2 hrs away) or trust them to pick one out. M1 Garand, CMP Special (.30-06) plus a box or two of ammo. I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve.

Going to order one from cmp. Don't want to make the 1 day drive to Ohio to pick one out. Just going to hope and pray.
Love the rifle always have. Was given a m1 carbine from a buddy that I put back together (he gave it to me in a small cardboard box.) Helped hold me off. Didn't cure the want of a garand.

I have a M1 Grand, just bought some surplus ammo for it.
Mine is a DCM, cleaned up the stock, it looks fine and shoots well.

If at all possible go and pick it up in person or you will get the first one that the person pulling the order comes to. Believe me there is a big difference as myself and my good friend and shooting/spotting partner ( LRRP matches ) took the drive to Anniston and it was well worth the drive as he picked his out and has a fine specimen of that particular rifle. They are not as they once were when the supply was great. As the supply is dwindling so is the quality of the rifles. He chose to buy the $1,195.00 priced rifle. The M1 30 Carbines have become so few that the only way to get one from the CMP is by auction only. If we could get the current POTUS and his admin to release the South Korean returns we would have the last of these great rifles in a bigger supply. The 30 Carbine is available new from Auto-Ordnance and a couple of other makers but as we all know that it is better to own a piece of our great country's history whenever possible. I do agree that the only possible improvement was the M14. Springfield Armory makes the only one made from the original blueprints and it is a great rifle. I love, own, and buy milsurp when I find a good condition one which has become harder to find these days.

Got my M1 Garand from CMP in 1993. Took it to the range 1 time. Cleaned, oiled and put it into storage. I would like to know if anyone has a proven treatment and storage plan for the long term. Thanks
