Just picked up a Shield for my EDC to replace my XD40. I love this this as I truly disappears when carrying. Already in one week I haven't though of carrying my XD once. Both of them I carry in a AlienGear IWB holster. Now I am looking for a small OWB holster for the Shield. Any suggestions. Needs to be small enough to still be able to cover with a shirt.

Check out NSR Tactical like mine above Dave White makes some real quality kydex gear, and he has great customer service!

With the shorter mags, they are the same length. Circumference is going to be bigger, but you have to put the evtra bullets somewhere. With the full size mag it gives the 9c a full size grip. Harder to conceal, but super easy to shoot.

Clearly the Shield and the 9C do not have the same size grip

Eidolon, great comparison shot. I didn't realize the 9c grip was that much shorter. It is clear that the Shield is easier to conceal, both by measurements and sales figures. For me, the 9c is not much harder to conceal for the added benefit of the extra rounds. I usually carry a smaller gun, and move up to this due to a perceived increase in threat. At that point, round count becomes more important to me. I had a Shield, and it is indeed a great gun. The 9c was just better for my needs.

I like the slenderness of the Shield and it carries so seamlessly IWB; However if I could change one thing it would be a fatter wider grip only. I have read negatives concerning slip on grip covers sliding down the grip. So far we have over a 1000 rounds through our Shield with no issues.

I generally carry an M&P 9, the Shield is what I carry when I have to wear a tucked shirt or when I’m at home and I want something in my pocket.
My objection to the 9C was the grip didn’t feel right in my hand. I could have worked with it if it was an issue weapon but since it wasn’t I bought what I wanted.

As for concealment, at home I tend to flannels and fleece vests in the fall and flannels and leather vests in the spring/ summer and I’ve never had an issue with concealing the M&P 9.

Of course this time of year I could conceal an M14 under my clothes and I doubt anyone would be the wiser

I have a shield 40 , got a big hand gripping was a little problem . I put Talons rubber stick-ons and put Hogue universal slip on Jr. over the talons and they work the balls no problem slipping or falling down !

Whenever someone asks about a good firearm to carry. I suggest Ruger SR, Baby Glock and Shield. I have never shot a Shield. I am waiting on Glock's single stack. Like a ton of other people. At moment I own 2 Rugers and 2 Glocks
