Low Cost 1911

I've had a Taurus pt1911 for 4 years never had a problem with it. I have had problems with Taurus brand before a 709 that had issues but I love my 1911

Maybe Taurus keeps the good ones in their home county. I have 2 PT 1911s and both the stainless and blued version are dead on from new. I also have a SA Milspec, a Colt Special Combat GM, AMT Ranger with Colt Model 70 slide and barrel, and a Sig C3 ( all in .45 ACP ) at my disposal. The Tauruses are just as good at hitting the target as any of the others and actually do better than all but the Colt SC GM.

I've owned a Taurus PT1911 AR for about 1 1/2 years now with roughly 1000rds through it with zero malfunctions. It's got a great trigger and is pretty darn accurate. It's my go to pistol, out of all the ones I own... it's that good to me.

I've also had the RIA 1911 on my radar, been impressed with it too. So, I guess it's which one is cheaper.

I haven't had the issues with Taurus that some have had, I've never had one of their pistols break on me... so haven't had to contact the factory... I suppose the ones I have are the good ones.

I am also looking for a "low cost 1911" and this thread caught my eye. As I have been shopping/researching the web and local gun shops I really started to wander what "low cost" really means for a 1911. I was checking out some of the Remingtons, Springfields, Taurus, and the Citadel 1911s in the price range of $499-$699 and came to the conclusion they were was pretty much "low cost". At the local sporting goods chain store I even saw that they had a Kimber for $799. I am sure that a lot of the cheaper ones are rock solid but once you start adding extras like grips, sights, match grade barrels, etc it still brings you up to the $600-$800+ range. So far I am leaning towards the Kimber custom 2 ~$799, it just feels right in the hands :)So what do you consider a low cost 1911?

I have run around 200 rounds through my new RIA officers model. The gun perfomed flawless totally recomend it

Another vote for the Rock. I love mine and has never failed. Lifetime warrantee and flawless execution. What more does one want? You may lose one or two bragging right points though.
