I just purchased an LC9 to use as my backup.

I'd like to hear what people think is the best SD round for this weapon.

Thanks,

many folks here think hornady is a good sd ammo
i just use fmj .380 acp in my mag though and might try the hornady when i see them on sale next gun show put a few through at the range to be sure my gun cycles them well and consider carrying them for sd

I use Hornady critical defense rounds. Shot a box through to make sure they cycle fine.

Speer Gold Dots come just as highly recommended. Comes down to a personal choice really.

Hornady Critical Defense here as well. Cycle great in my carry guns and all the tests/reviews I have seen/read showed them as terrific performers.

If I were carrying an LC9, I would use Hornady's Critical Duty. It comes loaded with a 135gr Flexlock bullet

Being an owner a LC9, I use Hornady Critical Defense. It cycles well and I have had no issues with it.

My LC9 has over 4200 rounds down range, most only target ammunition. I have fired a box or two of Hornady critical through it.

After some time with this gun I think Hornady's Critical Duty the 135gr Flexlock bullet is the way to go.
I also added a 20 pound recoil spring instead of the stock 16 pounder. This helps soften the recoil a little bit and has had no effect on dependability.

Never was a big Ruger fan but this is a great concealed carry gun.

I personally love Hornady Critical Defense/Critical Duty/TAP...also love DoubleTap...or Speer Gold Dots as a backup. Just about any premium self defense rounds are great, I just avoid Remington Golden Sabre.

I'd go with something "heavy-for-caliber" in a short barrelled gun. The Federal 147 gr. HSTs and Winchester 147 gr. Rangers look like the good options.

Something to consider and to answer your question. You'll have to find out for yourself. Most have answered with Hornaday Critical defense, but to find what works best in YOUR weapon you need to try several kinds of ammo and see what works best. Hornaday is great ammo, but great ammo doesn't necessarily make it the best for your firearm.
