A friend of mine is looking to buy a Ruger SR9 and had asked me about it. I have no experience with Ruger pistols or any other Ruger firearm. So just wondering if anyone out there has any reviews to offer on this pistol...good or bad. Thanks in advance.

I have one and use it for my 'lazy day' carries, when I do not want to carry my glock. It is a very good gun, conceals very easily. I can't shoot a lot at one time while in the range because it does have a bit of a kick, but that is expected. If I where you I would spend the few extra bucks and get the laser sight with it.

I have a ruger sr9 and I love it I carry it for my concealed weapon to me it doesn't have a lot of recoil and it's quite comfortable to conceal and carry, it is a very nice firearm for a really good price.

I have owned the SR9 for sometime now. I bought it to practice at the range with since 9mm is the least expensive center fire ammo in my area. Excellent quality, as well as "shootability". Minimal felt recoil, can shoot it one handed repeatedly if you wish. I like the large capacity magazine so that I don't have to stop to reload as often as other pistols. I would whole heartedly recommend this firearm to all!!

Is he looking at the regular or compact? I just got the compact and love it. I had a couple light strikes within the first few clips but I am fairly certain it was just because of the newness and me putting too much lube and not cleaning it improperly before I shot it. I put about another 100 rounds through it after that without a problem. I noticed it was very stiff at first but it does loosen up. I could not release the slide stop with my thumb at first and after about 100 rounds or so I could.

Overall it's a great gun. I got a Makenzie holster for it. The pistol conceals fairly easily but is big enough and shaped right to be comfortable in a normal sized hand. The pinky extension on the 10 round magazine gives just enough room to get a nice firm grip on it.

The recoil is not bad at all and it is pretty comfortable to shoot. I researched for a couple months before I made my choice. I don't believe anyone will go wrong buying one.

Love my SR9c. I actually prefer the 10 rd mag over the 17 as far as feel goes. As for recoil, shooting 115 gr bullets I was surprised at how little it kicked.

I have the sr9c for my conceal carry. Very comfortable in my crossbreed holster. It is very comfortable at the range as well.

Thanks for your posts...the SR9 my friend is looking at is a full size, 17 rd mag capacity. Right now it'll be for home defense, then hopefully he'll get into a CC class in the near future. Thanks again peeps. :)

I have the SR9c. Great for carry, great for practice. The trigger is unbelievably good, especially for a $400 gun. I love it. Have over 1000 rounds, not one problem.

I have the SR9c. Very happy with it.

Have your friend hit youtube and search for sr9 reviews. He'll find several. Here's Hickok45s

Ya know, for some reason I neglected good ol' Hickok45 for a good pistol review. Thanks for the vid.

My friend has a SR9 and loves it, I shot it and it's nice. I have a SR9c and really like it as my
carry weapon. The SR9 is capable of being a carry gun also if you have a good holster.

:pleasantry:
