Looking for advice on a new carry gun

I'm new to this site and would greatly appreciate any information you might have on a good carry gun. I am now carrying a Rossi 38 spl revolver, but am interested in a semi-auto. The two I were looking at are the Glock 23 and a Ruger LCP. Any pro's and con's you could provide would help me in my decision making. Thank you and I look forward to hearing what you have to say.

The lcp is one of the easiest guns to conceal. The glock is more powerful, but it's also a thicker, bigger gun. A better comparison would be the glock to a Ruger sr9c, which is an excellent weapon. You can use the 10 round mag for ccw and the 17 round mag with grip extension for home defence or range time. Glocks are overrated. You can get a Ruger cheaper and its all American made and owned. Mine is much more capable at 25 yard then I am! Lol

I will take a look at the Ruger thank you. Not looking for a compact, the slide on them like to slice the knuckle, big hands and a small grip dont mix. I like the Glock size.

I have the Glock 23 and with respect to ruger4life, they are not overrated. You want a personal defense weapon to go bang when you pull the trigger...that is what Glock is famous for. I am 5'8" and 200 lbs. I have no problem concealing my G23 IWB. I like the way it feels in my hands and the accuracy it has proven. I really like the 13 rounds the mag holds plus one more in the chamber gives you plenty to use if needed. I will not knock a Ruger...I like them alot. In fact, I'm thinking of getting an LCR for my daughter. For me however, I feel safe and secure with my Glock 23.

I have a Glock and a Ruger SR9C. Both have been fantastic, find the one that fits your needs and then be ready to buy multiple holsters, lasers, carry belts, new clothes, and about fifty extra magazines for your chosen sidearm. Enjoy the journey.

I have an SR9c, and was looking at the LCP for my wife. SR9c is LARGER than an LCP, so I would not rule it out due to being marketed as a "compact" - heck, the LCP is closer to a sub-compact IMO. The SR9c is a great gun, and even better "bang-for-the-buck" purchase. Obviously, better stopping power than the LCP as well. My other suggestion would be to give the Springfield XD-M 9mm a look as well.

The size of the Sr9c doesnt look to bad. I'm sorry, I said before I wasn't looking for a compact, I'm NOT looking for a sub-compact, compact is fine. All the comments are great, thanks everyone.
