Looking for a good CCW gun on the MA "List"...

Greetings!
I'm new to this forum, and as a guy who usually shoots single-action pistols, I'm looking for advice on picking out the best CCW pistol for me. There are really two catches: I live in MA (and cannot move - before it is suggested), and I have pretty large hands. This means that I need to pick from the very small number of choices on "the list". It also means that I'm looking for advice from other large-handed guys with regards to which semi-autos work best for them (slide clearance and grip support being the big things).

Thanks!
Dyl

I carry the Ruger LCP and wear XL gloves. Its ok for me. Other than the long trigger pull and the need to use the Polymere Ball filled hollow points it's a great gun. I never have an excuse not to carry because of size or comfort. The LCP and my pocket holster drop right into my pocket.

In MA, we have a list of approved handguns. Basically, only manufacturers who are willing to pay ~$30k per model (and blued/stainless/etc are considered different models) for "testing" are allowed to sell in MA. You cannot buy a new Colt, Springfield Armory, or many other good American made pistol in Ma. The only way they get in is through a few loopholes that allow for those who owned them legally in other states to sell them as private sales, or for FFL dealers to get ones legally as pre-ban or former law enforcement surplus. The Glocks went like crazy when Northeast Trading Company got a batch a couple of years ago. I love my Vaquero, but I'd still love to have a nice Colt.

Can you settle for a 1911 clone, like armscor brands, i.e. ria, high standard? You said new colts, and SA. Or am I completely on the wrong track?

I'm talking Colts for my single-action hobbies (SASS/CMSA type stuff). I've been looking at an LC9 for CCW, and I can get a few decent 1911 clones for range work. When I'm not working, most of my time is spent with my horses, or going to the range as often as I can work it out. I pull some odd hours with work, so even with a 24/7 indoor range, it can be tough.

I also live in Mass, Im getting the Ruger SR9c. On the Ruger website it says it is Mass and Cal approved.
