Locking Gun in Car on state property Parking lot

This is my first post on this site and I am in need of some information. In the State of CT, if I am parked in a parking lot on state land, and I lock my gun in the car is this legal? I have checked everywhere and I cannot seem to find that answer. Now it is obvious to me that you cannot bring it in the building, but what about locking it in the car in the parking lot? I have not tried this yet for the obvious reasons due to the possible repercussions. For example: Storing my gun locked, ammo separate, in the car at Fairfield Hills in Newtown CT while going for a jog.

Are you locking the gun in the car before or after you enter the parking lot? If it is before you get there No one ever needs to know unless you tell them.
