I've tried to visit Emmalee's a couple of times when in Pahrump during their business hours as posted on the website. They were closed each time. Please let us know about your dealings with them and your opinion. I've only heard good things about them. TIA

I have been to Cabela's and Sportsman's Warehouse. I know that Scheel's is new. Have you been there? If you have, how are the prices?

Also, of the list you gave us, are there any other good ones to check out in Reno/Sparks, Tahoe area.

I don't think I'll be going back to Emmalee's. I recently found out that the CCW training my hubby and I received was faulty. We were not taught the most recent laws by Emmalee's dad, the instructor. Emmalee's grandmother runs the store, is friendly enough but we're not looking for friendly, only knowledgeable, her ammo prices are high, but then again ammo prices are high everywhere. She also sold me a pistol I've since found can be dangerous/ or at the least not a good cycling pistol but never a warning from her. I need to do some more research for myself. I much prefer Doc's knowledgeable mind at Pair A Dice. Going forward, I'll be buying my ammo online in bulk or at the Bass Pro Shop over the hill at the 160 and I15 in the Silverton Casino. Most of their counter people upstairs in the hunting section are knowledgeable, too. The only good thing about Emmalee's is her layaway program if you need one.
 
I have been to all three, Cabela's, Sheel's and Sportsman's. Of the three, Sportsman's has the best prices.

I agree, Sportsman's has the best prices. Scheel's isn't too far behind though. Cabela's is definitely the most expensive for guns, but I love their reloading section. Scheel's had a good selection of firearms. Their salesmen work on commission, so getting someone to help you is no problem. If you want a good scare for Halloween, go to Mark, Fore & Strike and check out their prices.:eek:

I went to check out Scheel's. It's a nice place, but it's expensive. From what I saw, their handgun prices are on the top of the spectrum. They're friendly people, but it doesn't cost anything to be nice.

Anytime you see a Ferris Wheel in a sporting goods store, the prices are going to be high.

Went to Silver State Arms with my bro late last year. He picked up a Ruger SP101 for a reasoable price.
