    H 3072 - Smith, Taylor et al
To amend section 23-31-250 to prohibit a property owner from creating a policy that
prohibits a person from storing guns or ammunition in their vehicle
    House Judiciary Committee
    >>>> I oppose attempts to use the power of government to restrict a property owners right
to determine what happens on his own property.
    ============================================================================================

Here is where we have a different take on a bill....Several companies tell employees they cannot have a gun in their car while the car is parked on company property. This would force a person to leave his weapon at home when going to work...We all know we spend a lot of our lives working. Hence a lot of our time unprotected until they can return home and retrieve their weapon....

I'm not in favor of allowing the government to strong arm property owners to allow or disallow activity on their property. Others are certainly free to feel differently. My hope is simply to make folks aware of all the gun bills going on in SC and get them to do something about them.

While I disagree with a property owners policy of no guns on his property, I don't want the government getting into the business of telling the property owner what he may or may not do.

I have no issue with a person setting the rules for their home...I. However, have issue with a Mall owner stipulating you cannot bring your weapon onto the property...They should have no say in what I or you have in our vehicle.

The absolute hypocrisiy of some people never ceases to amaze me. They will wrap themselves in the Constitution or the Bill of Rights and state that they have the right to do this or that with their property. But then they will turn around tell you that someone else does not have that same right because it doesn't suit them. And of course, they're more than happy to use the force of government to strip those others of their rights and to make them comply with their wishes.
.
It's pretty simple really. I won't tell you what to do with your property and you don't tell me what to do with mine. For the sake of this conversation, I won't tell you where you can and cannot go with your firearm on your person or in your vehicle. But don't tell me what activity or object I have to allow you on my property. And before you even try, a mall is private property and that private property is owned by a person or people, whether it is a sole proprietorship or the stockholders of a corporation.
.
People like you do nothing to further the goal of regaining our Second amendment rights. For every liberty minded person who agrees that we have the unlimited right to self-defense and the absolute right to keep and bear arms, you shave off about 50% support as soon as you show that you are more than happy to take away some of their rights to serve your own selfish purpose. And while I have your attention, using the gun-grabbers term "weapon" instead of the correct firearm only feeds the people who we're fighting against.

The mall should have no say in what's in your car. Agreed. They should be the ultimate authority on what happens on their property.

The government should have no say in what is or is not banned on my property, or yours.

Either way, Sorry for including any personal opinion in the OP. It was cut and pasted from elsewhere. As I said, I was just looking for SC specific forums to get the info out there. Hopefully folks can spare a few minutes to email or call their reps to let them know what the think about pending bills. Thanks.

Opinions are always welcome..That is what starts the debate...I agree regarding the government and our homes....

Thanks for posting the information...There were several I was unaware of..

Good write up on S.242

Now the item you linked for H.3575.........that might as well have been written in German for all I can tell.

While I agree 100% with property rights. My vehicle is my "property"!

So, if my boss doesn't want to have a gun on his property at work but, allows my car on his property, his rights STOP at my car door. If you're for property rights, you need to be for ALL property rights! (Both real & personal)

I'm not one for the ways & means of state politics....what, specifically, does this mean? Is it dead?

No, but at least two from the nay list will need to switch to the yes list. I would advise everyone to call the entire nay list and request they support S 308. In particular, if one of them is your Senator, call and email them,

Already done! Senator McElveen. Freakin' bleeding heart liberal he is!

Nothing I need at the mall bad enough that I won't just go someplace else.

Now, if they banned guns on the premises of Tractor Supply, I'd be in trouble.
