Limit on Carry gun

I was talking with a friend the other day and he told me the U.S. should make it so CCW people can not carry anything over a 9mm. He pointed out that other countries have a limit of a .380.

He believes people have the right to own any caliber handgun to shoot at the range or for home defense, but a carry gun should be 9mm or lower.

I myself would be fine with that since my three carry guns are a .32 acp a .380 and a 9mm.

How about you? :triniti:

Let me guess. You "friend" doesn't have a working knowledge of the Constitution or terminal ballistics either, right?

Hell No! I don't agree. I choose to carry a Glock .40; (short barrel) and most the people that argue with me haven't even shot my gun before they argue. Then they shoot it and change their mind. Regardless, to each his own. Its like what motorcycle you ride. What car you drive. What religion you practice. What toothpaste you use. Different choices for different people. Its what you are comfortable with. One size does NOT fit all. We are NOT all carbon copies and government needs to stop trying to regulate us as though we are; whether its medically, or constitutionally. Get the hell out of our personal business!!!!

The part that scares the hell out of me about your post is "I myself would be fine with that since my three carry guns are a .32 acp a .380 and a 9mm." Why did you just say, I'll give up my rights that I'm not using or since it does not apply to me at THIS time, I don't care!

You friend's comments don't worry me nearly as yours does...He sounds like a non gun owner and is looking for limits. Your a gun owner and okay with limits not matter how stupid they are as long as they don't effect me personally at this time.

The guy would be an ex friend.

That was exactly what came to mine mind after reading it...And the same with the guy who wrote that!!..Maybe it's a good time to refresh some basics about 2nd Amendment!!

My primary carry gun is the S&W M&P FS .40 caliber, with manual safety. I have three 15 round magazines and stoke it with Critical Duty 175 grain rounds.
I think your "friend" should worry about his own country and not so much about us or what we carry.
I am also very surprised at your recent change of heart.
The second amendment belongs to the people, not to the government. As such "they" have no legal authority to limit my choices in gun selection. "We the People" have the authority to limit government intrusion into our private lives.
It is US, We the People, who have the final say on all things concerning our well being.
The time is coming when we will restore the freedoms that are inalienably bestowed upon us.
They are from God, not the Government.

Sorry but I disagree with that. I think people should be able to Conceal carry whatever they want. I carry a .38 special and used to have a .357 and several others before that. So I think the "Shall not be infringed" part of our 2A rights would be exactly that if they ever passed a limit like that.

It would be an unconstitutional law if they passed that limitation.
Unconstitutional laws are not enforceable.
Why is it that people seem to think that any form of regulation is constitutional?
SCOTUS attempts to define the written words based on criteria full of emotion and personal prejudices that do not exist in the wording.

Really, this is your mind set with all that is going on? I have a .50 DE that I would carry if it weren't so damn big. I do have a Ruger Alaskan .454 with a 3 " barrel that I do carry on occasion. Bigger is better.

A .50 Flatrater! That is awesome. Any barrel pointed at you would be scary, but one you can crawl inside must be completely terrifying. I carry a .40, can't imagine trying to carry something bigger. Good on you.

So, is the complaint the bullet diameter or the amount of powder --- or do you even know those figures on a 9x17 (.380), 9x18, 9x19, 9x39 (.38 spl) -- ooops, I just gave them to you.

The logic for limiting caliber in EDC firearm is ---- ??????????????

Your friend is an idiot.

And for your agreeing with his idiocy in any degree....well, I'm not gonna get any more personal here.

Have to agree with this. I personally would not want a 30 round mag for a pistol, but I'll be damned if I'll say someone else shouldn't have it, except for a criminal.
