Light or Laser mounted to a HD Gun?

If you are going to use your flashlight to go get your kids, I would think you certainly wouldn't want it mounted on your gun when you have to use it to locate your child.

I have night lights in my house so that I can see throughout most of it. My kids are grown and gone but I always have a separate flashlight with a momentary on switch so I can peek and move without leaving the light on (if need be). I have a laser on my bedroom gun. It is easy to turn it on or leave it off while carrying the gun. I only need turn it on when I am immediately planning on shooting. Doesn't give away my location but is a big aid for shooting in the dark or semi-dark and from odd stances.

There is a reason there are so few of you who you think "think right." Meanwhile, millions of gun owners use lights and lasers effectively.

Did you even read my reply? You and millions of gun owners think you and they are right--have at it. Just love when people only read what they want to read and not what is written. Effectively you say? What the heck does that mean? Millions of people have been in their house when the bump in the night occurs; because they turned on their flashlights and lasers, they have become firearm defense experts and have prevented those millions of tragedies?--baloney. Most of these "millions" have found their lasers to be fun at the target range. I am getting off of my initial thought but if you like your lasers and flashlights and another million like their lasers and flashlights--have a ball--enjoy them--buy more. Hopefully none of us, regardless of how we view our defense and our equipment for same, ever have to use any of it. As I said, kindly read what I wrote and not what you read.

millions of people ingest food that is killing them everyday, does that make it right?

How funny, my anti gun co worker used the exact same argument against all guns, nearly word for word...I almost couldn't "stomach" it then...I didn't understand what food had to do with firearms then, or lights and lasers now...

Excuse me, I responded to apvb. No I did not read your response, why would I?

No one here has mentioned night sights. Take your gun and flashlight around the house (unloaded, please) and try pointing the light and aim the gun at something. Can you see the sights? If you can't see the sights, you can't hit the target. That's why you need tritium night sights on your home defense gun.

And by the way, re light on the gun, you can point a rail mounted light and gun at the floor, and it still lights up the room.

This topic certainly generates many varied responses, some quite passionate! Maybe I should have asked a less controversial question...like...what do you think about Obamacare? :-) Seriously, I appreciate the many responses. They all provide food for thought. I'm wondering what the law enforcement officers among us think about this...do you routinely use laser/light attachments when in a possible confrontation situation?

Valid point. A mounted laser that is zeroed will help with hitting a target, as will point shooting with your flashlight in your off-hand married to the gun (takes practice and is less accurate). Night sights are a definite plus with any gun.
