Let Me Tell You About The Stupidest, Thing I've ever done

Just like the cop in KY, he didn't really, really check the gun was clear.

When I clear my pistol, I rack the slide at least three or four times, and lock it back. If you can't be sure it's clear like that, time to give up the gun.

Drop the Mag, jack back the slide and lock back. As I'm moving back the slide, my left hand catches round that was in the tube. Once completed, LOOK into breach to ensure all clear. Then place to rest or pass off to another. Starting doing that back in the Navy in 75. Haven't changed since.

Same as mappow, except I don't try to catch the round. I just make sure it doesn't go flying and rolling under a piece of furniture or whatever. Then a deliberate visual check of the breech and mag well and I know its empty.

Can't say I haven't passed a loaded weapon off before with brothers at a private range, muzzle pointed down range and the two of us literally shoulder to shoulder weapon on my open palm and secured with opposite hand and him picking it from my open hand, or placing on a bench muzzle downrange and him picking it up(or vice versa)...and can't say I won't do it again. When shooting and on a live range our awareness of the exact condition of a gun is different than sitting around the living room or in a gun store/show and handling unknown weapons.

Hammer away, hope I didn't upset anyone...

Breech. The place where the ammo goes is the breech.

Breach is a gap, or to break a contract.
