Funny how they will only muster that much effort into catching a criminal when a police officer is the victim....

Actually it isn't much different than the effort expended by the members of a church when one of the congregation's house burns down. Or say a Navy pilot goes missing on a flight and all the sailors bust their butts looking for him. Just saying!

There is a difference - it is a police officer's job to apprehend criminals, that's what they are getting paid with public funds to do and when the victim of the crime is another police officer they spend a hell of a lot more public funds to apprehend that one particular criminal. The Navy isn't getting paid to look for a private Cessna pilot when their plane disappears, but we will if we have the funds and resources available to do so above and beyond our mission requirements and while one could argue who a particular religion's doctrine requires them to take care of, the church isn't getting paid with public funds to support anyone when their house burns down.
