Legal Interpretation: Concealed Carry in Establishment Licensed... for Liquor

Just need some help interpreting this - does the law state that I cannot possess a concealed firearm in ANY establishment licensed for on premises consumption of liquor? In other words, if I eat at a chain restaurant like 99 or Ruby Tuesday's, which serves liquor, am I in violation by carrying?

I understand that I cannot carry while intoxicated, so the question is specific whether I can carry in a bar/restaurant that sells liquor.

I assume your question pertains to Maine law?

If so, no, Maine law does not *in general* prohibit you from carrying a concealed firearm into an establishment licensed for on-premises consumption of liquor. The exception being that if such an establishment has posted a notice prohibiting or restricting the possession of firearms in a manner reasonably likely to come to the attention of patrons, then carrying a firearm is a crime.

So, bottom line: No sign, you can carry.
