When I spoke on the phone with Jeff Hedge about the Renegade he asked me if I ever used an ankle holster. I had to admit that I did not like to up till this point. I did not like the straps and the fact that most ankle holsters promise to cut off circulation in exchange for some semblance of security. Jeff promised me it would be the most comfortable ankle holster I ever tried and he was right. Jeff Hedge has a passion for functional gear done right and this holster is right.

I figure if you are going to test something you might as well go whole hog on capacity and capability. For this reason I chose to use my all steel East German Makarov for its size, shape and heft. The holster is made of industrial grade webbing and elastic. The stitching is all world class with no looped or skipped stitches. I was drawn to the quality of the workmanship. (My mother is a retired professional seamstress so you can imagine the quality I have come to expect in my life for sewn articles.) I am a quality assurance guy in the aerospace industry. My attention to detail borders on the obsessive compulsive. Mr. Hedge has matched the performance of his earlier work with me...ZERO DEFECTS!!!!!!!!!!!

Let's face it, you will not be carrying a crew served machine gun on your ankle...it WILL BE a small frame auto or revolver and absolutely lighter is better. Except me...remember that whole hog comment? The Makarov is about the heaviest gun in it's class. Real European Steel! Heavy Duty Communist military construction. In a word..."IVAN PROOF"!

It covers up quite well. It does not ride or pull leg hairs as has been my previous experience with ankle holsters. I usually wear combat or hiking boots and this rig fit me well. I positioned it so that the Gun was both comfortable and accessible. I have worn it on a few outings now and I absolutely love it for comfort on road trips. I walked and got in and out of the vehicle from every door and angle. I walked about three miles just to see if any chaffing issues or slippage occurred...None! Drawing is a little slow but this is a deep conceal and a great back up gun holster. It is nice to have peace of mind and reassurance of having a small measure of security in the event your primary weapon is compromised.

As long as he keeps turning out high quality functional gear, I will keep buying it. This allows yet another option in the concealed carry world that is often overlooked.
