Yesterday, in SC, a magistrate judge dismissed charges against a man who ended up slicing open the stomach of a Navy sailor during an altercation in Charleston on 4/15. Seems that the Navy sailor and his friends, who had been drinking heavily, had been beating on a friend of the man who then jumped in to help his friend. He then found himself being beaten and stomped and kicked by the Navy sailor and responded with his knife. Stand your ground is alive and well in SC. Do you think it matters that in this case all individuals were white--that is if you think that the man and his friend were "white Puerto Ricans".
