Laser or Nights Sights

I'm interested in improving the factory sights on my XD40. Would be interested in the pros and cons of laser sights versus nights sights (specifically tritium).

Night sights will still allow you to get a sight picture in low light/night, and I don't really see a negative in using them. The downsides to lasers is they are electronic so they can fail, and some people become so used to them that they forget to practice good shooting fundamentals.

I think night sights are definitely good and can only increase your capabilities. Lasers can be good as long as you use it to add to your solid shooting skills.

I think you should try both and buy what you like. I have both on my 1911, if the laser fails I still have the night sights.

I had a laser but I was not as careful of fundamentals with it so I dumped it. Still the old adage applies, find what works for you.

There's a positive to both. I would use both, there could be a situation where lining the gun up with your head may not be ideal. This is where a laser should come in to play, but I would only use it for that reason as to keep in mind the fundamentals. Don't rely on the laser.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. To begin, I've purchased Trijicon Tritium nights sights. Once I get those on I'll begin additional practice. I will continue to consider the purchase of a laser sight.
