This last Saturday we held a Reactive Steel Match at the Big Piney Sportsman's Club. It was Fun and Challenging. I had a heads up that we would have some new first time match shooters, so I set the targets a hair closer than I do at times.
**
STAGE 1: This consisted of 2 pair of Plastic Barrels stacked side by side. Behind the barrels was both a Left and a Right "Shoot A Boot" Target. The steel Cowboy Boot is visible. You shoot the boot, and a IDPA Silhouette cardboard target drops out to the side, which is then engaged with 2 rounds.
**
STAGE 2: This was a Texas Star. This consists of a Star that rotates when out of ballance with 5 each 8 Inch Plates on the star ends. Advice was freely given on the best order to shoot the Plates off, and keep the rotation to a minimum.
**
STAGE 3: Was an 8 Inch Plate Rack. It has 6 each 8 Inch in Diameter knock over plates.
**
STAGE 4: This stage had a pair of Full Size Pepper Poppers with a Drop and Turn Silhouette target between them. The Right Popper falling activated the Drop and Turn Target, which was an IDPA Cardboard Silhouette target, exposed Face on for less than a second. No time for thinking when it starts moving. You get on target and shoot, or it is sideways again in about 3/4 of a second. That is the slow NO Spring Attached setting by the way. It can be much faster for the Pro's.
**
STAGE 5: This stage started on the Left side with a Reactive Pepper Popper. When you shoot over the Popper an IDPA cardboard Silhouette comes up from the front. The Popper going down also activated the Dual Swinger. The Dual Swinger had a stationary No Shoot Silhouette in front of a swinging IDPA Silhouette target. Then you engaged 6 of the Shorty Tomb Stones in an arc to the right.
**
STAGE 6: Consisted of 2 lines of 6 each Tall Boy Tomb Stones. You have to shoot the closest target to reveal the one behind it.
**
We ended up with 5 Husband and Wife shooters, and one Father and Daughter. That was a total of SIX Lady Shooters. One of them was even my wife who I never can get to the range to shoot her revolver. I talked her into shooting since we had the other Ladys shooting for the first time also.
I believe ALL of the Lady shooters went through the course twice.
Sorry No Lady Shooter Pictures. We had 50 runs Saturday, and by the afternoon when most of the couples showed up I was very busy running the match. I will do better next time.
**
I am 100% sure we will see them all back. I think all of them will be going to our Gabby Franco Ladys Shooting Clinic later this year.
I hope to see all of them next month, which will be Club Defensive Pistol , which is similar to IDPA Minus about 90% of the Rule Book on Equipment.
