Police say an 84-year-old western Pennsylvania man wounded a home invasion suspect with the gun he carried in the Korean War.
Elizabeth Township police say 25-year-old Raymond Hiles was captured not long after trying to break into Fred Ricciutti's home early Tuesday morning.
Ricciutti tells WPXI-TV (Link Removed ) he heard Hiles break a window and then confronted him, firing a single shot that grazed Hiles' neck.
Investigators say Hiles was arrested a few blocks away, carrying a screwdriver and a stun gun. He's being held on $100,000 bail on charges including criminal trespass and burglary.

Good job Mr. Ricciutti! :)

Not sure how a German Lugar is being called his service weapon. More like trophy.
Good job Mr. Ricciutti though wish your aim had been a tad bit better ;)

hehe, so for your information...if he was an enlisted G.I. he would not have a sidearm, most G.I's like my grandpa..got a luger or TT-33 or something else from a down German or Russian and carried that as there sidearm...you are correct it is not an official sidearm..hehe, but in the good old times, they just wanted it to go boom...now at days, you try to collect a sidearm or a firearm from a fallen enemy you get your butt in Fort Leavenworth.

also, they do not make them like the used to...Mess with the best...die like the rest...Vets Rock...!

Depended on where you were if you wore a sidearm. In 1955 dad carried a .45 while on duty on Guam. And no, he wasn't an SP. He was a CT. Not all Japanese surrendered in 1945.

A Luger was not a service weapon for the G.I.s though.
